Japanese Culture@holiday

Yes, it is. Both Shin and Mei-Shun use an American calendar system, did not recognize these serial holidays set to serve for the Olympic Games. The husband therefore works as usual, while the wife as well. She cooked, did the dishes, laundered, used a vacuum cleaner on the floor before wiping it up with a wet cloth, played with Ms. Piano, practiced 恋の手習い and studied Spanish. Oh, how quickly time flies!

Where’s mom’s hair donut?

There it is!

My Day

Standard

It is today with 大暑=taisho, 6th and the last of summer 二十四節気. Although it means influx of the hottest season, rain never stops falling. Mom’s mom-in-law planted sunflowers in the garden this year, grown enough to bloom. However, they look a bit too tall to see from the ground. The best place is a verandah upstairs where the former loves to hang futon mats.

Mischievous 17

Standard

Mom told me that Gion Festival; usually held today for 前祭=saki-matsuri, while on 24th for 後祭=ato-matsuri, was canceled this year caused by that weird coronavirus. Meow, anything would happen, you have only to anticipate the next chance. What is more dreadful is that you gained 1.7 more sugar bags around waist during 17 days rain prevented you from going out to see horseies.

Can you see where I am?

God Gecko

Standard

… or Goddess, it is great honor of Shin and Mei-Shun to see you again. Please take their appreciation of your kind protection, called 家守=yamori meaning a home guardian in our language. Often appears on a window at night, your white silhouette let the wife pick up her smart phone immediately. Here you come from 下手=shimo-te, the left side seen from audiences.

Sorry, photographer is in pajamas.

Happy Niners

Standard

Mei-Shun hung futon mats yesterday, after 9 serial rainy days. It is one of her favorite housekeeping affairs, made her delighted looking up pale-blue sky patched by white and grey clouds. At her feet found 9 mesdemoiselles in full blossom, with 2 newly open taking one whole night. Early cicadas sounded from far away, let her know summer has already come above.

Remarkable Resemblance

Standard

The 6th mademoiselle of mom’s orchid bloomed, purr. She told me that we look like each other. They are smaller and greener than elder sisters, just after opening into full — lovely equilateral triangles. On the other hand, my face is a fluffy inverted triangle in silver-blue shade when I relax on mom’s legs with ears turning downward. Do you kind followers agree with her?

Sleepy Princess

Standard

Meow, mom seems to refrain from going outdoors today. More precisely, she only drove dad to the nearest station before dropping in the shrine she normally walks to. Welcome back, how was your omikuji lot? Both of two you drew are 吉=lucky, that’s great. White lilies have grown up toward your thighs, sounds nice. What, Tora-chan was on your mom-in-law’s bed? I cannot say purr for it.

It is my privilege.

My Day

Standard

It is today again, purr. Mom went out in the morning, returned in a minute. She told me rain started to fall, prevented her from walking to the nearest shrine. Meow, it means you should stay home all day with me. You have a lot to do when a new week begins, especially on PC closed yesterday, don’t you? Oh, it was 夏至=geshi, the 4th of summer 二十四節気 with the longest daytime, yet almost in vain.

My claws on bear …

Mom cut them.

Sleepy …

ZZZ …

Really Red

Standard

They are so bright that Mei-Shun feels as if beaten in eyes when she opens the front door. Mom-in-law chose it to be planted here — she visited Switzerland 22 years ago, quite liked that country where many houses grow geraniums at windows. It also works as bug repellent, not only cute but useful. By the way, what is the brightest is your eyes, Mikan-chan.

Dance Classically

Standard

Thank you so much, Ms. Last One. You played a role of Mei-Shun’s partner for gallop yesterday, very well done. Do you know that piano score aired in the field? It is “A Maiden’s Prayer” composed by Ms. Badarzewska. Actually, she seems to be featured often these days. A professional pianist chose it on TV, let above amateur know that she does not need to be in a hurry. Slowly, precisely and amorously.
