Lunar June starts from today. Mei-Shun visited Tsukuba horsey riding club, saw her primary instructor Ms. I with refreshments. They talked about schedule forward instead of a lesson: stormy weather made the field rice paddy. Now the former turns toward Dr. W, followed by the nearest shrine to greet Gods and draw omikuji lots. No. 1 大吉=the luckiest has come for Shin.
Yes, Shin loves it. Mei-Shun does as well, while has preferred young, thorny ones to pickle in her 糠床=fermented rice bran with olive shells and seeds. On the other paw of Mikan-chan, the husband sometimes picks up bigger, smooth and reasonable batches at supermarkets. The wife learned they are superb not only in salad: juicy nature serves nice to fry, simmer and grill.
Mei-Shun has already noticed that there is a nice shop selling rice crackers on the way to Tsukuba horsey riding club. When she drove Ms. Scarlet to see Dr. W the other day, an idea popped into her mind: why would not she bring some as souvenirs? It looks like a restaurant while serving for shopping only. Several bags were brought home of course, quite fond of by Shin as well.
Well, it is udon noodle. Shin, accompanied by Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun, drove Ms. Moon toward a restaurant famous for such size. The husband chose one called 田舎うどん, simmered in miso soup; the wife ちからうどん soy-sauce soup poured on, topped with baked rice cakes. It is so thick that nobody would slurp — must cut to bite, using smaller chopsticks.
Mom-in-law asked Mei-Shun the other day if she lost weight. Daughter-in-law gave a yes, yet almost 3 years have passed since it has come to her. The former sat on a window frame, the latter was preparing Ms. Scarlet to go shopping — one’s figure might be seen clearer under sunshine. It is not the reason for Shin to take pleasure in above with his wife in 静岡 as single tour during Golden Week 2025.
Mei-Shun dined with niece M-chan this evening. The former saw her home dentist Dr. M in the morning, dropped in a bakery. Since she overslept to pass breakfast, nice lunch pleased her refreshed teeth and mouth. Now which superb menu would follow here? Garlic shrimp is recommendation of the latter lovely, all right. Attached is a glass of tea lemonade whose color would change …
Mei-Shun loves sakura refreshments including tea. Shin knows it well, kindly brings various souvenirs in lovely pink shades. Japanese sweets, cookie, cake and jelly often feature that flower from March to current month; 山櫻=wild cherry, artificial 染井吉野 and double 八重桜 make our minds full of happiness. Mouths of most she believes, caressing a silver coat on a pancake cushion.
It really is, even if Mei-Shun caught a cold. Sore throat followed by running nose, or stuffed up during bedtime. Such condition is not suitable for driving, let alone dancing with horseies. Missing Mademoiselle Angel, Mr. Marumorita, Mr. White Mocha and other sweethearts, she went out on foot. With nice wind, taking 5 times longer than by car, it would let her enjoy 名古屋 souvenir from Shin.
We have 清明=seimei, 5th of spring and whole 二十四節気. It means atmosphere around me, dad and mom turns into clear and flowery, just like today — rain continued for a few days finally stopped, blue sky appears embracing warm sunshine, purr. Mom drove Ms. Scarlet toward Tsukuba horsey riding club, danced with Mr. Marumorita. She found nice numbers at home, took grand pleasure in dad’s souvenir from 函館.

Mei-Shun is looking for tea shops where flavorsome green tea is available. Since the nearest and her favorite one was closed, she tried another nearby with lovely cats — yet their tea itself did not suit her palate. Gentle Shin knows it, brought home a bag from 静岡, our biggest prefecture in that agricultural product. Hmm, it seems to be processed by machines, not hands. That does not matter to deliciousness.
