Ball Babies

Mom-in-law is really good at growing plants. Mei-Shun recognized vines of watermelons behind Ms. Scarlet, took it a good challenge. On the other hand, Shin tried similar on the roof floor years before to make a fiasco. Difference between this mother and her son seems to come from how much they care for fruits and vegetables; she looks them after daily, he does only once a week.

8 – 8 – 8 = Ya-Ya-Ya

Standard

Oh? What happened to you, dear clock above Ms. Piano? It must be around 8 : 15 in the morning, yet you are 8 hours behind. Mei-Shun has to go toward a garbage station soon, surprised at your message when she looked up from a piece of superb chocolate cake. All right, batteries would be replenished later — oops! 8 : 10 at night saw you suddenly start running to reach the real time.

Elegant Emerald

Standard

Rainfalls from June to July in our country have magical power, says Mei-Shun’s instruction book for orchids care. Since recent weeks have been like such rainy season, she put Mademoiselle Vert outdoors — not on the ground while verandah floor, to let these ladies have a shower. Oh, what a difference! Natural watering seems far better than one every two days by a woman.

Sweet Sunlight

Standard

Lunar April started. Solar May 1st was 朔日 with a new moon while the 2nd crescent expected tonight. Mei-Shun was happy to hang futon mats and blankets outdoors — rainfall prevented her from doing it yesterday, so hourly looking up the sky to check weather did not matter. Oh, white flowers of 姫空木 are shining under Momo-chan whose little fruits let her 4th mom feel delight.

Wild Wisteria

Standard

Shin and Mei-Shun are lucky enough to be able to see seasonal flowers at home through windows. Plum, cherry and wisteria are not planted in their garden while available in “backyard” for the 1st, at a nearby bus stop for the 2nd and similar to that chimerical ume for the 3rd. The wife recently found it tangled on the top of a tree, perhaps too high to remove from.

Glorious Greeting

Standard

We have 穀雨=koku-u, the 6th and last of spring 二十四節気 today. Some of rice paddies around here in Ibaraki are already watered, perhaps waiting for neat lines of young green soon. Mei-Shun would like to walk along such a sight toward the nearest shrine, yet it seems a bit too cold to enjoy it. So Mademoiselle Vert, could you show your youngest sister instead?

Slow Spring

Standard

Here Momo-chan, our garden princess gave the 1st flower in 2022. Mei-Shun loves this season when the former becomes a forerunner of 染井吉野 cherry blossom. The latter made a phone call to mother the other day, learned that “grandma” tree of above peach has already bloomed 30%. Yes, southern Tokyo always receives earlier message from flowers than northern Ibaraki.

Hop and Lop

Standard

Here they are to join Mei-Shun’s family. She found them at the horsey riding club, brought both home thanks to Shin: one of them caught her eyes first. However, the other reminded her of Mikan-chan’s elder sister. If only she paid a bit more, kitty sisters could have stayed together. She immediately contacted him, received a quick response to go ahead.

Tea Time

Standard

Well, Mei-Shun does not mean that lovely horsey boy. It is as for above dried green leaves who give us warm, refreshing drink. When she visited her favorite tea shop, pretty bags full of cherry flowers bloomed on a counter. Hi, great to see you. Your comment “we are here to wait for spring” would be shared by many including Shin, mom-in-law and herself.

Crescent Cooker

Good evening, 十六夜=izayoi moon. Mei-Shun sang with Ms. Piano your scores composed by Masters Debussy and Beethoven, thanking to slight snow/rainfalls the other day for watering garden plants. By the way, she received a food box delivered every Friday just a few hours before. Young green bananas greeted her, hung above a boiling kettle to turn yellow immediately.
