Oh, Mikan-chan, please stay asleep on the sofa when mom plays “Lieder Ohne Worte” Op.53.No.2, composed by Master Mendelssohn. It is one of her favorite pieces, sounds nice and serves good for finger stretching. Or if she practice more to gain a flowing tune, would you listen quietly like Momo-chan, Princess Peach in our garden does? She bloomed from 10% to 60% in a few days.

Step by Step
StandardOr should Mei-Shun call it finger by finger? To tell the truth, she practiced passing the 3rd page of that piece by Master J. S. Bach until recently, where sharp position changes from F key to G. It results in more mistakes than other pages, forced her to make special workout in hands for such “difficult” part. It is like she feels a kind of tense in gallop on horseies; she has only to augment experience for progress.
Clair de Lune
StandardOh, what a shock it is — Mei-Shun partly forgot how to play that beautiful score. She admits the fact that Master J. S. Bach has occupied her mind for these 5 weeks, while never stops admiring Monsieur Debussy. Her practice patterns always include the latter’s pieces: “Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum” and “Arabesque” sound great and are best for finger stretching. It just depends, what would be chosen to enjoy next.
Simple Sounds
StandardHere the score of 2019 for Ms. Piano follows below. Thanks a lot, Shin, for ordering it from Hong Kong. Mei-Shun was happy enough to head immediately toward her favorite musical partner for a trial play. Hmm, some notes are written like reflected by a mirror. Does it mean a kind of countermelody? … not so bad a guess, it seems. Coming from a cantata, each melody must be correct and clear.
Play Another
StandardLast year saw three new scores for Ms. Piano. Since Mei-Shun means to concentrate on study in Spanish and Japanese-teaching in 2019, she might not have enough time to augment her repertoire. Better than nothing, she would choose just one. Let her see … ah, “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by J. S. Bach, arranged by Dame Myra Hess. It was missed at a shop before. How convenient it is, shopping on net!
Severe Barometer
StandardMei-Shun remembers that Ms. S, her last piano instructor owned cats at home. One of them was a black beauty called Tami-chan. She often sat on a piano chair, shared it with the young student. When the latter played well, the former stayed there. However, if awful sounds heard, she immediately escaped from the room. Yes, Mikan-chan, you sometimes do the same as well.
Good Couple’s Day
StandardThey call today so, reading 11=i-i, meaning “good” and 22=fu-fu, “a married couple” respectively in Japanese. Well, Kaori-san’s first exhibition started from this date 4 years before. What a nice timing, symbolizing good communication with her husband Maru-san. Regarding Shin and Mei-Shun, the husband asked the wife to play piano before leaving for a business trip to the U.S.
Treat Only
StandardMs. Piano, you look so happy to see Mr. O this afternoon. He is your home doctor who visits Mei-Shun and you once an year. Scores, cloth elephants and bears have to be moved toward window-side bench. Bottles of vegetable juice are prepared in a paper bag to hand him as a small gift. Dust is all wiped away, ready to be tuned. Now, your time has come to sing lively.
13th Moon
StandardThanks to an autumnal clear sky, we could see 十三夜, the second most beautiful moon last night. Mei-Shun celebrated it by playing scores composed by Master Debussy and Beethoven featuring moonlight. She also would like to receive such magical power as much as possible, kept all shutters facing the south open while going outdoors. Oh, here comes sweetest silver coat. Welcome to share it with mom.
Field Up!
StandardThank you so much, Ms. I and Mr. Vanilla Arc. Mei-Shun finally made it: a certificate for the 4th grade of horseback riding technique would come to her hands soon. She played horse-related scores including “Life of Merry-go-round” and “La chevaleresque” before driving to the club. The former needs more practice, like gallop steps do to this happy face who has just graduated from a beginner.
