Mei-Shun enjoyed sumo wrestling on TV yesterday, when it was 千穐楽=the last day of 15-day match. With Shin’s birthday on lunar calendar as well, she vacuumed all rooms before putting on kimono. Oh, 3 rikishi of 3rd highest 幕下 rank, belonging to 二所ノ関部屋 succeeded in 勝ち越し meaning 4 or more wins. 2nd highest 十両 one also did by 10 wins, while her favorite of other stable won 8 in the highest 幕内.
Mei-Shun’s favorite rikishi, sumo wrestler has won 9 so far in current basho held in Tokyo. And yes, he added another win to reach double-digit 10 today. They say it was at the same time his 200th victory in elite 幕内=maku-uchi rank where he returned to after 2 years. Not only being strong, he calmly analyzes everyday match to improve himself both in body and mind.
Thanks a lot, Master 二所ノ関. His stable sent Mei-Shun a piece of 番付表, a ranking list of sumo wrestlers for coming 五月場所. As shown above, only elite rikishi are in readable size of kanji. Her favorite finally joined there again, taking 5 basho. She is happy to prepare an early-summer kimono, plans to put it on celebrating 初日=sho-nichi, the 1st day of match on Sunday.
Mei-Shun cheered her favorite athletes via TV in kimono on weekend. They are a sumo wrestler and a figure skater respectively, while share their brilliant accomplishments: the former won 13 bouts among 15, the latter his serial, second gold medal in World Championship. She celebrated them with 2 fingers of whisky, followed by hand-made cakes from mom-in-law.
Meow, mom received a phone call from her elder sister Y. I’ve not seen the latter, yet often heard of. “Her youngest daughter, your cousin M passed the entrance examination to University of Tsukuba! She would be an Ibaraki resident soon,” she told me smiling. Dad is also satisfied with this news, calls M-chan a smart girl. I cordially wish them a good friendship.

Mei-Shun received 番付表 of sumo wrestling held in Osaka from 12th via Shin the other day. He is not so much a fan of this sport, yet kindly joined a group to support nearby 二所ノ関 stable for his wife. Oh, one of them re-entered 十両 rank where her favorite 力士 belongs at the top. By the way, her tall friends living also in stables gave a bit dance today.
Happy Birthday, mom-in-law. Mei-Shun is always pleased to go out for shopping of flowers and a cake for you. Stormy wind pushed her into a shop for the former where only a few, tiny arrangements were displayed. She asked a clerk if superior one was available. She replied it was, yet 2023 first auction would be held tomorrow. “We have therefore a bit elder ones here…” No problem at all.
Meow, Respect-for-the-Aged Day of 2022 is the same to my birthday. Does it mean me of 19 years old on 19th by chance? At least mom never takes it so. She calls me the sweetest honey ever in the last year of teens, purr. And dad, great to find you in 上海 from yesterday, cleared 10-day quarantine at 青島. We promise to keep “good girls” until welcome you back home.

This August starts from Monday. Yes, Mei-Shun is ready to spend well the hottest month of the year. And happy birthday, mom. She went to cool 草津 from the middle of last month, plans to stay there until September. It is her custom since beloved dad departed 13 years before, so their two daughters have to congratulate her indirectly via phone or e-mail.
