This is Girl’s Day, festival with dolls in kimono and peach flowers. Mei-Shun saw so-so numbers on a scale yesterday, pleased to celebrate her younger days with sweets including 水戸の梅 and のし梅, souvenir from Shin. Well, ume is a bit different from above 桃=momo while in the same family. 桜=sakura is as well, while she does not know which covers 芝桜, moss phlox.
Purr, yesterday was for my breed when dad flew to the United States. His time went back to the same 2.22 while mom and I celebrate birthday of current emperor Naruhito today. They say it is for Mt. Fuji as well, reading 2-2-3 in her mother tongue. We do not know which mom-in-law living downstairs cares more, yet are always thankful to her cooking お赤飯=red-bean rice.

Meow, mom finally made a pie featuring one of my cousins and tequila. With the intention of consuming a bit elder condensed milk by it, she chose less cakes at “Arles” on Wednesday. She also bought a cheese cake mix for crust, rather than recommended graham cracker. Left filling powder was simply made into mousse, above green citrus fruit sliced within.

This must have been the 2nd day of 2023 for Mei-Shun and Mikan-chan to visit “Arles”. However, it is really the 1st since Shin gently asked that pâtisserie to deliver a “galette des rois” for his wife last month. He flew toward Hong Kong this morning, therefore could not share a tea table tonight. All right, she would try colorful macarons who keep the best until he comes back.
Here is the first flavor of spring in 2023 for Mei-Shun, a sakura lover. She can never stop purchasing such pink sweets sometimes combined with green tea. Makers might let them represent vernal views in our country: that five-petal flower in full blossom accompanied by young buds and leaves. One bag was allowed onto her table tonight after seeing better numbers on a scale.
We have 節分=setsu-bun, on the border of winter today before 立春=risshun, the 1st of vernal and all 二十四節気 tomorrow. It is also lunar birthday of Mei-Shun who visited the nearest shrine to greet Gods. Oh, omikuji lots would still be handed by a priest, who was not at a reception desk. He might be preparing to hold a ceremony in the main building, with candles lit and chairs arranged.
Most people of our country saw white Tuesday followed by freezing, stormy Wednesday. Mei-Shun stayed safe at home with Mikan-chan, winning Shin who managed to take an off today to enjoy picking up those ruby fruits with his wife. They drove toward the foot of Mt. Tsukuba, found their usual place closed. Bankruptcy? No-no, just after kindergarten children.
Meow, it was the date of “Arles” for me and mom yesterday. On the other hand, dad ordered above pie as her birthday cake from that pâtisserie on 13th. She won the fève in the first piece chosen, so he safely left others to celebrate lunar Christmas today. We stayed good girls on weekend, while he went on a two-full-day business trip to Hong Kong. Unique chocolates would also arrive at night.

It is Coming of Age Day today. Since 18-year-old young people are already called adults, 20-year might be taken normal these days. However, alcohol drinking and smoking would be allowed after the latter. Many local governments therefore hold gatherings on the 2nd Monday of January, may let them follow parties. Cheers from Mei-Shun with a glass of fresh red wine, souvenir of Nagano by Shin.
Meow, it is the last day of 2022 for me and mom to visit Arles. However, dad e-mailed to us at noon that he had to visit Miyazaki from evening. Tiny party would therefore be held tomorrow night, with all of us attend. Now chocolate cakes seem clever choice to store in a refrigerator, while the first tarte tatin we see here. Oh, a swan made of chou à la crème is for me? Purr … purrr …
