Lunar December 2024 starts from today, 大晦日=New Year’s Eve on solar calendar. Mei-Shun hoped to visit the nearest shrine accompanied by Shin and Mikan-chan, yet the former dad coughs too hard to go out. She therefore stayed home, did what could not on Christmas Day: baked a chiffon cake. It was served as dessert with hand-whipped cream after 年越し蕎麦=year-crossing soba noodle.
Thanks a million, Professor M. He kindly sent Mei-Shun images of the last, round celestial beauty in 2024, called Cold Moon. She looked brilliant yesterday evening, when the latter got on Ms. Scarlet to pick Shin up at the nearest station. He came back from Kyoto, where a lot of good sweet shops are accommodated; many of them changed into ones specialized in rice cake this month.
So the last month of 2024 on solar calendar started. Mei-Shun gets up at 5 : 00 on weekdays, found 下弦の月 or a crescent getting thinner in eastern sky within November. She wishes to see 上弦の月, the same leading to full shape float in western sunset from tonight. Foliage along streets in Tsukuba is still colorful, while almost every shops adorns Christmas trees.
Mei-Shun is a pencil lover. Not only writing by hand, sharpening with tiny gears has been a nice time of concentration. However, the latter do not work well these days — they often break leads. That was why she purchased bigger one at a stationery shop. Hmm, it makes a good job, easy to handle and looks charming. Color of beauty in night sky helps her to relax.
Mei-Shun gave up visiting her horsey riding club, caused by slight yet chilly rain from this morning. She therefore worked at home, singing with Ms. Piano scores of moonlight Masters Debussy and Beethoven composed. They followed the one Master Pachelbel did of course, played at first every time practiced. Princess Maria, it was great for her to see you last Thursday after trotting with Mr. Danone Caesar.
Hi, Mr. Danone Caesar. Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun feel great to see you again. Please listen, they stayed at a hotel in 道後温泉 some of whose rooms accommodate open-air bathtubs. Shin kindly chose one of them — a beautiful half moon was available through shoji screens while they were warming themselves. Morning bathing was also terrific with a view of 松山城.
Ms. Piano, your “flange cords” might be broken. Ms. K, your new “doctor” informed Mei-Shun on this trouble — Ms. T, who took care of you last year might leave. Well, any tuner honest and good in skill would be our friend. Shall we therefore wait smiling the last date of current solar month? By the way, we have missed young crescents for these several days. It might somehow matter to us.
Here we see solar November and lunar October start from the same day. Mei-Shun takes it a good opportunity to visit the nearest shrine to greet Gods, yet wondering which calendar they choose for 出雲 trip. On the other paw of sweet Mikan-chan, 朔日 or the 1st of lunar months have respective 六曜 fixed. For example, current 神無月 and 卯月= April begin with 仏滅 while 霜月 and 皐月=May by 大安.
A full moon is expected tonight, yet cloudy sky made Mei-Shun wonder if we could see that beauty. Oh, it is called Hunter’s one while the biggest in 2024. Did you know it, Mr. Danone Caesar? Solar October starts, looking forward to lunar September on Thursday. I and mom went shopping by Ms. Moon — dad’s favorite socks often see holes above heels. She would like her glasses adjusted by a good optician as well, finding new scores for Ms. Piano if any. There is a mall a few minutes drive from place of beloved Master Mei-Shu. Perhaps thanks to that gentle lady, all of our missions accomplished.
