A weather forecaster recently said that 2025 染井吉野 cherry bloomed as usual, yet took longer toward full blossom thanks to chill, snowy days. Shin, Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun therefore enjoyed them on 2 weekends while the husband repaired a flowerless tree indoors to hang coats. The wife is happy to clean up his study floor occupied by a pile of shirts and bags.
We have several, serial 夏日 this week; at 25 degrees Celsius or higher temperature joined current spring month, along with a few snowy days. Such a radical change within a short term might affect Mei-Shun who had heat rash on the back. She therefore met a dermatologist instead of Mr. Marumorita today — not for any cream but to remove corns on bottoms of her feet.
Oh, how violent today’s wind is! Mei-Shun hung above one and another in early morning, waited for them dried enough. She actually canceled classes at Tsukuba horsey riding club, taking heavy rain of yesterday as caused rice paddy there. Her choice seems correct: such weather would make Mr. White Mocha stand still in the field, while Mademoiselle Angel might not care.
Well, it occurred in Saturday morning when Mei-Shun ironed out Shin’s shirts, back them onto a coat hanger branch. She felt its weight — yet has never done, then all other items hung leaned toward a bookshelf along a wall. “Are you all right?” the husband immediately asked, perhaps after hearing the wife scream a little. By the way, she replaced a poor plum photo with another taken from beneath the tree.
Oh, our backyard 梅 opened white flowers. It has got warmer than usual from yesterday, might let it go ahead. This tree is a kind of chimerical, whose solo branch blooms in pink. It is more flamboyant compared to others, yet Mei-Shun prefers the latter. One of reasons is that their buds resemble pearls. They also seem to give softer scent, enter houses with plum lovers.
Storm sounds blustering all over our country today; blizzard rages in northern area, violent wind descends toward south. Mei-Shun shuts herself indoors on such a day, giving up any activity outdoors. Now almost all job is over, shall we take a break on fruits, Mikan-chan? Please listen, mom found little kiwis stored in Ms. Cuby instead of pomme de terre.
We have 立春=risshun, the 1st of vernal 二十四節気 today. Still freezing outdoors, many children in our country are taught to sing 早春賦. It means an early spring poetry, with lyrics describing a season only by a name. Shin, Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun enjoyed 豆まき=roasted soybean spreading yesterday. Such an event at home would give good meals for birdies.
Here is current image of Princess Cymby. Two sister flower buds opened each shell, changed shape from peas. As Mei-Shun mentioned before, this Highness experienced no blossom last season; she stayed indoors all through summer 2023, lacked enough sunlight to flourish in winter. Such an apparent attitude might give growers a kind of confidence in what to do.
… of rain Mei-Shun caught by ears, in morning bathtub. Checking her diary, as long as 2 weeks were found all dry; 1st snow of current winter we saw last month, final falling from the sky last year. Mss. Moon and Scarlet, Momo-chan, 蝋梅=wintersweet, roses, etc. look happy outdoors, while Mikan-chan, Shin and mom-in-law indoors. Now sushi delivery service arrived, shall they start a lunch party?
