Professor S generously gave a pretty necklace made of brown agates, when Mei-Shun visited her last week. “How nice”, Shin said immediately when he saw it. Of course it is handmade by that gentle lady who designed a lot of accessories before going to a shop of precious stones in 御徒町. She is very good at finding unique, reasonable ones to feature in her next works.

Joy of Stones: 2
StandardMei-Shun designed another necklace featuring a Venetian beads, as she reported the other day. Professor S put it on a special board, checked balance of color and atmosphere. “It would be better if calmed down by dark blue”, she said, picked up some lapis lazuli from her toolbox. Oh, she really means. Cute, dice-like stones removed amethysts from the first idea as well, enabled another pair of earrings.
Japanese Culture@holiday
StandardYesterday was our 4th Mountain Day, set on January 1st, 2016. Since it was Sunday, we have serial holidays including today. And that might make 9-day summer vacation added to obon period (13th-16th) with following weekend for some of business people. So please, Shin, take it as your privilege to enjoy enough rest at home. First shower, 2 weeks after the end of rainy season helps well.
Happy Birthday
Standard… to you, mom, who stays in 草津 on summer vacation. Both of solar August and lunar July start today, looks the best timing to visit the nearest shrine. Mei-Shun would make a wish to Gods to protect you in a cool environment, from a frying pan. Since it is too dangerous to go out right now (around 15 : 00, with no shower like yesterday), she would wait until this grilling sunlight is alleviated.
After 4Y + 17Wks
StandardThanks to half an year Dr. A gave Mei-Shun at the end of January, more than 4 years have already passed since the ex-inpatient almost forgot the disease. Smart phone schedule reminded her of today’s appointment with the doctor, who said in winter that they would see again when it becomes hot. Well, not only being pretty and gentle, she is also a great fortune teller.
Rainbow Doubled
Standard晴耕雨読 meaning to farm on sunny day, to read on rainy day used to be our custom in good old days. And it still continues in how Mei-Shun does; to enjoy horsey-back riding when it is from clear to cloudy, to dance when it rains or snows. She owes all of it to Shin who works hard no matter what color the sky puts on, saying that her smiling, healthy face deserves every bacon he brings home.
Great Tea
StandardIt is a gift from Mei-Shun’s mother. After she welcomed her younger daughter at home, they often drop in a tea shop on the way to the nearest station. Interestingly, green tea of the lowest price tastes the best. According to the shop owner, it is because we tend to use more leaves than expensive ones. Well then, how this master’s handmade works? Here is seasonal delicacy, the best fit for a cup of green tea.
Mr. Melon
StandardShin rents nearby parking space for two cars; one for his own, the other for guests. Since mom-in-law gave up her driver’s license a few years before, he should have canceled one of above. However, he continues to pay for both. That seems to be the reason why Mr. F, the owner visits Mei-Shun to hand お中元=o-chugen, summer gift and お歳暮= o-seibo, winter one every year.
Last Mademoiselle
Standard25th and 26th sisters almost bloomed at the same time, including another in upside-down position, needed aid a little. And 28th has just arrived. It is amazing that all buds opened safely, making Mei-Shun feel so happy. By the way, some of you kind followers might wonder why she does not call the 27th. It is kept for the unfortunate one who was hurt to fall by this careless owner.
Heisei Ends
StandardMeow, the era I was born is going. Mom would see it change twice in her life; from Showa to Heisei as the first, to Reiwa this time. She might experience even the third, yet future is not ours to see. Her interest is rather on 銀杏餅=gingko cake, one of the best sweets from Toyama Prefecture, which is due by today. Another 玉天=baked meringue would keep on tasting good over Golden Week, she says. Purr …
