Shin and Mei-Shun visited mother’s home of the latter today. She has one happy matter to report — her beloved father came back. That means 蝋梅=robai, Chimonanthus praecox descended from mom’s garden bloomed on his birthday January 1st. He must have reached 82 years old to enjoy golf, trekking and painting. Still, welcome back to us on such a cute, shining little flower.
congratulations!
Joy at Kyoto: 4
StandardSo this is her 3rd exhibition, purr. Mom and dad made a one-night trip to see Kaori-san or こがしわかおり, Ms. Kogashiwa, Kaori. She is one of mom’s best friends from her high school days. Another was held in 神保町, Tokyo where mom also visited and brought a lovely girl to home on Monday. She told me other two would join us soon to celebrate Christmas together. Purr … purrr …

Sunflower Christmas
StandardHappy birthday, Professor A. Mei-Shun visited a restaurant in 銀座, Tokyo on weekend to meet him and Prof. S for his celebration. Prof. M should have joined them to make up a group of friendship called 桐花会 meaning Paulownia Flowers, yet had another appointment. Next chance of all-member gathering is expected soon in a town full of Christmas adornment.
Happy Birthday
StandardMikan-chan, mom is so happy to see you healthy in 16 years old. It is just amazing that your age would mean an octogenarian if calculated into human beings. You are the prettiest kitten forever, not a silver spoon in mouth yet a fluffy coat. Do you have a request for a gift? Since your favorite bed almost collapsed, please let her search similar one. Red, warm and shaped like a tent.
Japanese Culture@holiday
StandardHere mom-in-law cooked red-bean rice. Since today is Respect for the Elderly Day, we should have celebrated it for her. However, it was she who did it by herself. Simmered vegetable and chicken, baked cheese cake were also served. Mei-Shun really admires her tough mindset — it is not always easy to prepare for your own commemoration. Oh, how good they taste except the desert of horrible calories!
Happy Birthday
Standard… to you, mom, who stays in 草津 on summer vacation. Both of solar August and lunar July start today, looks the best timing to visit the nearest shrine. Mei-Shun would make a wish to Gods to protect you in a cool environment, from a frying pan. Since it is too dangerous to go out right now (around 15 : 00, with no shower like yesterday), she would wait until this grilling sunlight is alleviated.
Fly Away
StandardMei-Shun found the pupa stayed at the porch already empty this morning. Yes, Shin told her last night that its color changed from bright green to brown at the bottom. So a beautiful swallowtail butterfly was safely born here. Which of you flying above our garden is the one? Anyway, let her pick up this shell to dry and keep as an amulet. Oh-oh, it sticks to the wall so tightly that requires scissors to remove.
Happy Birthday
StandardTo you, Shin. It is the greatest pleasure of Mei-Shun to see you in good health today, yet fretful cough never left during your business trip to Beijing. And a dinner meeting might prevent you from going home earlier tonight? Well then, she would totally agree to your proposal to postpone the party till Saturday. And good boy-and-girl followers, please do not do the same as he use a medicine his wife prescribed before.
Japanese Dance!
StandardMei-Shun really loves it. Heading for 邦楽発表会 held yesterday, she went to Tsuchiura City Hall Saturday to see rehearsal performances by dancers from 藤間流=fujima-ryu, 若柳流=wakayagi-ryu and 坂東流=bando-ryu parties. The last one has Master Miho-sho on the top, an elegant and gentle lady who hosted her own stage in April. Oh, everyone has been involved in hard practice so far.
Treat Only
StandardMs. Piano, you look so happy to see Mr. O this afternoon. He is your home doctor who visits Mei-Shun and you once an year. Scores, cloth elephants and bears have to be moved toward window-side bench. Bottles of vegetable juice are prepared in a paper bag to hand him as a small gift. Dust is all wiped away, ready to be tuned. Now, your time has come to sing lively.
