Sweet Flower

Standard

Following below is 梅=ume, plum blossom along a lane toward parking space of our horsey riding club. It is so cute, yet rare to see such a short tree: we have to bend our back to feel sweet scent. Another is brown sugar candy with pieces of dried salty plum topped, sold at a restaurant. Soooo tasty, with packing technology which might a bit surprise many Japanese consumers including Mei-Shun.

Thank you so much, Dr. A. She gave Mei-Shun an “Yes” phone call yesterday. Of course from the hospital, therefore after a snowfall on Saturday. Please take good care of yourself, A-sensei, it is sincere wish of your ex-inpatient. And another gratitude to mom-in-law who kindly cooked お赤飯, red-bean rice thanks to above white weather. It was served on your daughter-in-law’s table for celebration.

Mom’s Opinion

Standard

Mei-Shun met her mother yesterday. One of the latter’s close friends’ husband collapsed recently, brought to a hospital by an ambulance. He has been lying unconscious since then, makes mom feel afraid of coming across similar situation. However, only Gods know what would happen to our lives. So please, “cool down” blended herb tea, let the daughter calm her boiled brain before going to bed.

Nothing has changed at 大志満 in 高輪, Tokyo. Shin and Mei-Shun visited there after several months, should have said a happy new year. They were guided into 椿=Camellia Room. Of course you are here; blue birdy, we missed you hoping you did us as well. Green vegetable, sashimi, 治部椀, grilled salmon, tempura and rice. Oh, how cute these origami cranes are to hold dessert spoons!

Hello, Teddy

Shin brought home boxes of cookies and tea bags from Hong Kong. His client made a queue to purchase the former, quite popular for decades. Oh, lovely bears prepare for coming lunar new year. Four flavors of shortbreads are within, full of butter. Light texture, not too sweet. Mei-Shun’s favorite is “coffee”, tube-pressed and brown. As to tea, “silver moon” is the best for her among six.

Sweet Natto!

Would you kind followers like it? Mei-Shun the other day saw a TV program which featured that traditional Japanese food made of soybeans. Northern part of our country have heavy snow in winter, forces residents to remove it from roofs and roads. Such a labor seems to let them go to a mount of sugar, on even foods normally had salty. Interested in and a bit scared, she tried it — hmm, not bad.

Crab, Crab

Nobody is that zodiac sign at Mei-Shun’s home. They therefore felt nothing sorry to him, just appreciated. It took longer than a whole day to melt him, so mom-in-law suggested a little bit boiling. The biggest plate and pot helped them to have a gorgeous dinner, while a labor to remove his shell full of thorns. Thanks a lot, Shin, for this sumptuous order and serving your wife.

Shin and Mei-Shun went to いしじま, a peanut shop while serves you nice soba for lunch yesterday. However, it was closed — oh, oh, they should have known it. All such  restaurants through the Japanese Archipelago would prepare for the last day of the year. Yes, she reserves tasty one in the freezer of course. And thanks a lot, mom-in-law for frying shrimps and onion tempura.

Joy on Weekday

Standard

Shin took a half-day off today, met Mei-Shun at Tokyo Station in early afternoon. They went up by an escalator, window-shopping winter items, toward restaurant floor of a department store. Hmm, tempura looks the best for lunch. He ordered 3-course ones including rare 大浅利=oh-asari, a shellfish much bigger than normal size. And 大山=oh-yama sake for his wife who won’t drive after this.

So we had no 木枯らし1号, the 1st wind from the north which blows after 立冬 within November this year. Well, still in October on lunar calendar, warm air might stay longer. With that being one of reasons maybe, mom-in-law’s vegetables flourish these days. She gave some to her son and daughter-in-law; the former prefers stalk, while the latter buds.
