It seems 百日紅=saru-suberi, crape myrtles like weather of this summer: much rainfall and short heat waves. Mei-Shun enjoys one planted in backyard of the northern neighbor every morning, while finds some in full blossom of bright pink or white on the way to her horsey-riding club. She wishes their beauty to be kept for 100 days as mentioned in name.

It is Marine Day today, often equivalent to the start of summer vacation for school children. Here Mei-Shun received her watch fixed perfectly. Since blue belt on the right was broken, she asked replacement by similar one. So beautifully done, she is quite satisfied. Thank you very much, Shin. 晴耕雨読 meaning to farm on sunny day, to read on rainy day used to be our custom in good old days. And it still continues in how Mei-Shun does; to enjoy horsey-back riding when it is from clear to cloudy, to dance when it rains or snows. She owes all of it to Shin who works hard no matter what color the sky puts on, saying that her smiling, healthy face deserves every bacon he brings home.
Thank you so much, Shin. It’s really an extreme surprise and pleasure of your wife to receive such a pretty gift on a normal day. She loves flower shades including orange, salmon pink, yellow, white and pale green. Her butterfly-shaped orchid named in the last color has had 20 sisters, with poor one fallen by careless Mei-Shun who pressed a pillow toward the pot feeling sleepy.
You are the prettiest, green shells. Mei-Shun always enjoy seeing them come out of “buds” rolled tightly together. They soon spread crossed sleeves to reach toward the sky, start yearly cycle until falling on the ground in yellow. Our backyard tree still holds little babies, already grew into school children in Osaka and going kindergarten with willow friends at 乙戸沼.
