Green Greeting

Standard

Mei-Shun took the year-end lesson from Master Bando today. She dropped in her favorite tea shop to purchase; green tea for herself, 和紅茶=normal tea grown in our country and ほうじ茶=roasted green tea for the master and Ms. S. The latter lady gave this 名取 several 柚子=yuzu and sweets. Oh, a phone message from a kimono cleaning shop was found at home.

Gingko Gone

Standard

Here they are on the floor of eastern verandah. Yes, green might represent 2021 for Mei-Shun; Kaori-san chose green-haired pendant, kabuki dance lessons featured both 松の緑 and 松の寿, etc. On the other hand, green light is not yet on for her Spanish learning. She forgot to apply for a test twice, has failed to spend enough power to open the textbooks every day, making that novel coronavirus a reason.

Double D’s

Standard

The 1st Tuesday of a month like today would be titled for Mei-Shun. She visits Master Bando in the morning, takes her lesson in 羽織, kimono jacket on normal pants style. Then she has to head toward Dr. M for teeth check. A molar on her upper right jaw is already cracked within, needs regular care and cleaning. It is 13 : 30, she drops in a bakery on the way home.

Mind Much

Standard

… yet less material would be better. Mei-Shun visited Master Bando as usual today, chatted a little before lesson. When Ms. S joined them, above lady told her new students about 御中元 and 御歳暮 meaning summer and year-end gifts. “Thanks a lot for your care of me,” she started. “However, to be honest, I cannot consume all sweets and bathroom items living alone. Could you please forget it hereafter?”

Japanese Culture@holiday

Standard

It never matters for Master Bando if a Tuesday is 勤労感謝の日, Labor Thanksgiving Day: there are always lessons. Mei-Shun visited her in a T-shirt and jeans today, put on 羽織 kimono jacket on them to dance 松の緑 and 松の寿. Shin continued to work from last night to this morning, could not have let his wife know when he would get on a train. Oh, his message arrived at noon on her phone.

Lunch@松乃家

Standard

Ms. Piano, you sound much better since tuned by Mr. O. Mei-Shun feels happy to sing with you, while a bit weird when she uses a pedal in higher keys. Since Shin is available working at home to replace light bulbs above you, she would try again tonight. Oh, a beautiful half moon has appeared in the sky. 松の寿 would also be practiced with dark windows as a wide mirror.

Dance and Dentist

Standard

No, Mei-Shun never means that her home dentist Dr. M does kabuki dance, yet this combination would continue for the time being. She visited Master Bando in the morning bringing souvenirs from Kyoto for that gentle lady, Mss. S and K. After a brief lesson to learn 松の寿, she immediately put off 羽織=haori, an easy kimono coat before heading for above clinic.

Cube Castella

Standard

Here are gifts from Nagasaki, where Shin visited on business the other day. Since Mei-Shun’s cupboard is full of tasty sweets right now, he did not mean to get such a big box. “However, they pressed it into my taxi, no chance to say no.” Oh, they not only look cute but also give nice serving size. It is your wife who says thanks, while bringing some to Master Bando today.

十三夜

Standard

Thank you so much, Professor M. He reminded Mei-Shun of the thirteenth moon or 栗名月 seen last night. It abruptly turned to the end of autumn from Sunday with a cold, too cold rainfall. Putting on 袷=awase or a double kimono, Mei-Shun visited Master Bando’s place today to start lesson of 松の寿, 長唄. On the other hand, Ms. S would dance 寿, 大和楽 on a stage anticipated next year.

Happy Hanako

Standard

Master Bando plans to hold a stage performance next year. It would be a simple one with no wig or long kimono, called 浴衣ざらえ=yukata-sarae or ざらい= –sarai. Mei-Shun means to dance 男舞, male-style while Ms. S female 女舞. Such a small goal gives them a kind of mettle to learn more. And bigger 本ざらえ=hon-sarae/i is anticipated after next, with 白拍子花子 putting on 金烏帽子.
