番付表 for the next basho of sumo wrestling arrived at Mei-Shun’s hands, sent from 二所ノ関部屋. Oh, 3 ex-大関 including her favorite are all single-digit 前頭 ranks. Although with no plan of visiting torrid Nagoya City, she would be happy to put on yukata, summer kimono as rikishi do. At least 3 days on 初日 July 9th, 中日 16th and 千秋楽 23rd. 千”穐”楽 is always employed by above stable.
Thanks a lot, Master 二所ノ関. His stable sent Mei-Shun a piece of 番付表, a ranking list of sumo wrestlers for coming 五月場所. As shown above, only elite rikishi are in readable size of kanji. Her favorite finally joined there again, taking 5 basho. She is happy to prepare an early-summer kimono, plans to put it on celebrating 初日=sho-nichi, the 1st day of match on Sunday.
Mei-Shun cheered her favorite athletes via TV in kimono on weekend. They are a sumo wrestler and a figure skater respectively, while share their brilliant accomplishments: the former won 13 bouts among 15, the latter his serial, second gold medal in World Championship. She celebrated them with 2 fingers of whisky, followed by hand-made cakes from mom-in-law.
Mei-Shun is a sumo wrestling lover. Or precisely, she might take it as a kind of artistic performance on a stage called 土俵=do-hyo ring. Gorgeous costumes 行司=gyoji referees put on, 弓取式=yumi-tori-shiki, bow-taking ritual held by a handsome rikishi warrior attract her eyes. Yes, she would pull sleepy kimonos and obi sashes out of drawers from next bouts in March.
Meow, it has become chilly from a few days before — mom brought me to Tokyo on Wednesday when rain started to fall. I had to control it not to get her wet, got myself exhausted. “Shall we go into futon blanket?” she said around teatime yesterday, pulling a 半纏 kimono coat out of a drawer, purr. After a nice nap, we found sunset to serve as a cool artist.

However, why did 番付表=sumo wrestler ranking list of 九月場所=September or autumnal tournament arrive first? It seems better to convey gratitude before a 15-day match starts.
Mei-Shun actually likes sumo. Former 横綱=yokozuna, highest-rank wrestler 稀勢の里 recently opened his new stable in 阿見町, next to 土浦 City. When Shin drove her and his mother to a grilled eel restaurant, they passed by 二所ノ関部屋 looking like a big temple or a gymnasium. It took just a second for the wife to check it up on the net, decide to be a supporter.
Shin and Mei-Shun had breakfast on higher floor of their regular hotel, saw a young guy in kimono. “He might work at next door,” the wife said meaning 南座. They currently accommodate kabuki actor 尾上菊之助, or ex-head of Kikunoe Ryu 扇舎 in Nausicaä, Princess of Windy Valley while features 坂東玉三郎 whose 京鹿子娘道成寺 DVD helped her so much.
This yukata or summer kimono is from mom-in-law. Since a bit small in size, Mei-Shun used it as an underwear for longer one to practice 恋の手習い. Washed over and over, it has become soft enough to change into a bathrobe. It often reminds her of Master Mei-Shu who also gave her last 名取 many including one the latter praised when the former lady put it on.
Mei-Shun moves from winter clothes to summer ones little by little these days: she brings coats, gloves and knits to a nearby laundry recently restarted their business. Regarding kimono, many of her yukata seem worn out as a whole. Being frayed under sleeves may be because they are often pulled here in kabuki dance. Since all thumbs in sewing, she would ask aid from mom-in-law.
