Ms. Piano, you sound much better since tuned by Mr. O. Mei-Shun feels happy to sing with you, while a bit weird when she uses a pedal in higher keys. Since Shin is available working at home to replace light bulbs above you, she would try again tonight. Oh, a beautiful half moon has appeared in the sky. 松の寿 would also be practiced with dark windows as a wide mirror.

Good Girl

So lunar October starts from today. Mei-Shun meant to walk to the nearest shrine after just a whole month, greet Gods and draw omikuji lots. However, she had to give priority to room cleaning which went behind the trip to Kyoto last week: she makes Fridays full of housework to enjoy fresh weekends. Her fluffy daughter, who was forced to stay home alone, likes this pattern as well.

Buzz & Beep

Standard

We have a full moon tonight. 大安=tai-an, the best day among 六曜. And power outage before noon that Mei-Shun has already been informed on. Construction cars arrived around 10 : 30 in warm sunlight, started to replace electrical wire. A fixed telephone stopped soon, 20-min. blackout. However, nothing woke up after 30 minutes passed. She went down to see mom-in-law who asked “what is a breaker”?

十三夜

Standard

Thank you so much, Professor M. He reminded Mei-Shun of the thirteenth moon or 栗名月 seen last night. It abruptly turned to the end of autumn from Sunday with a cold, too cold rainfall. Putting on 袷=awase or a double kimono, Mei-Shun visited Master Bando’s place today to start lesson of 松の寿, 長唄. On the other hand, Ms. S would dance 寿, 大和楽 on a stage anticipated next year.

Meow, we have 寒露=kanro, the 5th of autumnal 二十四節気 today. It means that dewdrops would be frozen in cold air, yet it seems all different. Room temperature keeps a bit below 30 degrees Celsius in daytime, above 20 all through the night. Mom told me that a beautiful 3rd crescent welcomed her at the nearest station, where she picked dad up in the evening.

So lunar September starts from today. Mei-Shun visited the nearest shrine again to greet Gods first, then draw 2 omikuji. She saw 吉=kichi, lucky lots for both of the couple; one for Shin numbered the 21st, the other for herself the 45th. Now is the time to jump and stretching under that great tree. Oops, please do not bite her, mosquito. Your season is already over.

Rice Rounds

Standard

Mei-Shun resumed her cycle of our main staple. Simple and the best white rice, called 銀シャリ comes first. Her favorite breed above means “a silver crescent”, written in an unique kanji letter. Pearl barley or もち麦 would be added to the next, reasonable Ibaraki products often employed. Porridge is the last choice, kindly wash inner pan of her rice cooker.

We are on lunar August 15th, the best full moon of the year 仲秋の名月 is expected tonight. It is also called 芋名月=imo-meigetsu, a good moon of potato. Not meaning cut-surface shape of normal one, but the beginning of taro season. Mei-Shun loves it, while gloves are indispensable to wash and peel fresh ones. And oh, thanks a million for bringing souvenirs made of sweet potato, Shin.

Flower Flavor

Standard

Yes, autumn has come. Mei-Shun caught nice scent in a recent morning, looked around yet could not find any tree. Her horsey riding club also has a big fragrant olive, already bloomed a bit. Princess Maria, do you recognize it? Those little, yellowish orange flowers let us relax enough to enjoy cool wind through sunlight still strong. And Professor M, thank you so much for above artistic image.
