With heatstroke alert for consecutive 4 days, Mei-Shun was forced to cancel horsey riding lesson again. Her expected partner was Mr. MATSURI whose name means a “festival guy”. Well, she found some remains of celebration around the nearest station; candidates posters regarding an election held on Sunday, portable restrooms used perhaps by revelers.
… again today, in Ibaraki Prefecture. Mei-Shun canceled only one lesson to try dancing with Mr. Marumorita. She therefore puts on a 簪=kanzashi from Shin, normally for kimono style at home: even if without that traditional clothes, such hair accessories, 下駄=geta or Japanese wooden clogs and 羽織=haori jackets could let her enjoy similar atmosphere. Now her favorite rikishi would soon appear on 土俵 ring.
Hello, Princess Maria or 手鞠姫. It is great pleasure of Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun to trot with you again. Please listen, they say that rainy season 2025 is over. It has been on and off, given both heavy storms and sultry heat waves. We hope it finally resulted in fine precipitation accompanied by good crops — well, are Your Highness ready for a lesson in cooler breeze?
山鉾巡行=floats parade of 前祭=祇園祭 previous celebration was held this morning in a downpour at our ancient capital. Japanese archipelago has been hit by stormy rainfalls since Typhoon Nari was born around 小笠原 islands. It already changed into a tropical cyclone, while seems to have brought tough, warm fronts. That allows Mei-Shun to enjoy singing moonlight scores with Ms. Piano.
A festival seems to be held on weekend at the nearest station. Mei-Shun wishes she could see it in yukata, yet allergy around collarbone still prevents her from wrapping neck with 半襟: she puts it on even for soft summer kimono. Moreover, Shin is going on another business trip abroad, toward Indonesia from Thursday. She would therefore visit nearby 八坂神社 instead and return 粽 purchased online last year.
Purr, this is the day of a month we visit “Arles”. However, it is closed on Tuesdays while mom has an appointment at a dental clinic in the evening. On the other paw of mine, dad gave her a lot of Turkish sweets. Since he is on a diet, almost all of these must be consumed by her alone. Only exception was above mint tea they tried last night. “Wow, this is liquid cough drop,” she commented.

Shin came back home yesterday from Turkey. It was also 初日, the 1st day of 名古屋場所 sumo tournament. Mei-Shun’s favorite rikishi got his 1st win, pumped her up well before getting on Ms. Scarlet. It was sunny, a bit hotter compared with a few days last week, while seemed to have replaced lost rainy season 2025. Souvenir delicacies includes the 1st experience for the wife.
Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun missed you, Mr. MATSURI. Rainfall, heatstroke alert and allergy for her mom prevented them from trying dance again with the gentlest horseies including him, Mademoiselle Angel and Mr. Marumorita. It is nicely cool today, made preparation quite easier. Hereafter toward the middle of September, one instructor and student would share only 30-minute lesson a day with one horsey.
Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun enjoyed 十五夜 round moon late last night. They hope it was shared by Shin who stays in a western country 6 hours behind. This week accommodates many of that celestial beauty; 十三夜 or the second prettiest on Monday, 小望月 or 14th, above said the most attractive, 十六夜 tonight and full shape 満月 tomorrow. The latter 2 might be among rain clouds called 雨月.
Purr, this is mine to protect dad on board heading Turkey right now. By the way, spelling of that country is the same as the bird raised for flesh. Mom’s dictionary explains: guinea fowls were imported into Europe from there, called Turkey-cock to be confused with other bald breed. Hmm, neither of them has been on our dinner table, even on the date when my “parents” married.
