Mei-Shun received 氷室饅頭=himuro-manju, steamed dough balls with red-bean jam filling this morning. Since they are the best within today, she gave some to Professor M whose beloved mother liked this delicacy from 金沢, Ishikawa Prefecture. Pale green, pink and white have been seen before — oh, colors of laundry balls to avoid clothes tangled with each other. Well, they are off in such a humid air, just let her try edible one.
Shin and Mei-Shun celebrated 夏越の祓 tonight on a cup of coffee and 水無月=minazuki as usual. 若鮎=waka-ayu and カエルまんじゅう=kaeru-manju, shaped like sweetfish and smiling flog face respectively made friends with above one-day delicacy, while only the husband took the former. The wife was too much distracted by a ticket arrived minutes before to get shots against that novel coronavirus.
Elder sister of Mei-Shun sent her boxes of season delicacy as usual. The latter is really a fruits lover like beloved father, especially above jewelry and peach. White-flesh melon, apple, kiwi and orange follow by a fine line while grape, strawberry and pineapple by a step. She admires their growers taking whom as brilliant artists or pâtissiers/pâtissières.
Thanks a million, Mr. Bean. Shin looks quite satisfied with your products. Mei-Shun feels the same as well, since it was for the first time that she purchased S size. After shopping, above couple went to a restaurant where the wife had long been interested in. Hmm, this 花咲きオムライス=omelet-topped fried rice is nice, yet stewed tongue of the husband’s choice is more excellent.
Golden Week, Year-end and New-year holidays are the most dangerous for Mei-Shun. They make her feel relaxed too much to abstain from foods full of oil and sugar. And alcohol easily follows. The former of this year accommodated all of them, brought horrible 2 bags around her waist which took as long as 2 weeks to leave. Really easy to go, hard to come back.
Children’s Day has come. It represents 柏餅=kashiwa-mochi and 粽=chimaki sweets for Shin and Mei-Shun, rather than streamers shaped like carps or samurai armors and helmets. We also have 立夏=rikka, the 1st of summer 二十四節気 today. It should mean a beginning of dry, comfortable season full of sunlight, yet too stormy to go outdoors this year. Above couple decided to make stay-home exemplar.
So one of Mei-Shun’s favorite months started. A bit cold this morning before 6 : 00 when she got up to see Mikan-chan, living room temperature was under 20 degrees Celsius. Mr. Blue still gives good jobs, immediately warm them enough to let the latter relax on the sofa while the former prepare breakfast and bath for Shin. Thanks a lot for dining out yesterday to enjoy German dishes and beer.
Mei-Shun recently devised a fascinating menu. She cooks salad almost every day for Shin, using oil and spice left on the bottom of a bowl as sauce for rice with mixed grains. One day an idea came to her — it is like another salad or fried rice. Here is a bag of easy powder for the latter. How would it work when spread with sesame oil on rice? Well, a new arrival of めし泥棒, she can never stop chopsticks!
In our country, “ice cream” has 15% or more milk solid including 8% or more fat. 10% of the former while 3% of the latter for “ice milk”. Well then, it might be better to choose milk rather than cream when you are involved in weight control like Mei-Shun. However, there is no difference in calories of さくら=sakura, cherry blossom flavor and 桜小豆=sakura azuki, sweet red-bean added.
