Thanks a million, Shin. He kindly gave Mei-Shun a box of compote on Mother’s Day. The wife always wonders if she deserves it, while full of gratitude to have an excellent family including mom-in-law. She received a pot of variegated carnation from her son via daughter-in-law. And the latter became a messenger again between a mother and a son, with a bowl of red-bean rice.
Mei-Shun did not purchase her preferred 柏餅 and 粽 this year. She makes weekly order for foods delivered on Friday, while it was one of our national holidays. That forced her to gave up asking a superb 和菓子=Japanese sweets maker to send their products on the same weekday. However, gentle Shin brought home above saying the blue box is all for his wife.
Mei-Shun finally put away above stove guy into 押入れ closet. What does he carry on the head, do you kind 517 followers wonder? It is a gift box from a chocolate company via one of credit card. She ordered it last year, while totally forgot when. And the number of ice cream cups surprised her: 14, layered by a paper holder. Well, 2 nephews living nearby would help Shin and his wife.
… it is today, our fiscal 2024 starts from Monday. Dad brought home above on weekend, let mom feel happy to see it after decades perhaps: they visited Okinawa for the first time together just after marriage. She loves 泡盛 distilled sake there, while took this tofu product as a bit weird. Now grown up enough, it is taken great accompanied by 鵜戸詣 from 宮崎 via kind Professor M.

Shin came back to Mikan-chan and Mei-Shun yesterday morning, with souvenirs including a durian pie. His hotel in Ho Chi Minh City asked guests not to bring that king of fruits into rooms saying “no smoking, no durian”. The wife has agreed with them so far, while feels it acceptable this time. It might help her condition to improve through 三寒四温, from cold winter to warm spring.
Last week when Mei-Shun saw Dr. A, a good bakery this ex-inpatient makes it a rule to drop in was closed. She therefore replaced it by one nearby, whose branch in Tsukuba has been visited before — a decade might have passed since then. Well actually, sweet “melon-pain” is her criterion to judge if loyalty would be born to a shop. Oh, how cute they are here, in tennis ball shapes!
It means me as well, purr. Dr. K kindly gave mom above in return for what she sent him on St. Valentine’s Day. I am sure these delicious bells work well for dad, who is quite busy while tortured by cedar pollen. Our schedule to visit “Arles” is set on tomorrow, whipped cream and fruits would serve us. Mei-Shun went to a hair salon nearby Tokyo Station today, instead of dancing with horseies. It was caused by a rainfall which always forces her to cancel or change lessons outdoors. Snow might be better if all white, yet often starts by disappointing sleet. She is made of sugar, would melt away into wet air. Service indoors was therefore chosen with 駅弁=ekiben lunch boxes brought home.
Mei-Shun loves to cook beans. Here are her favorite 花豆=hana-mame, runner beans came from 草津 via mom. They met during New Year holidays when the latter gave her younger daughter various, dried while gorgeous agricultural products. Now one of the most important points to make it a delicacy is to soak enough, until each bean returns to volume in pods.
I, dad and mom visited “Arles” together yesterday, purr. It is always mom who chooses 3 cakes for us respectively. We dropped in a sushi shop, came home to enjoy a table full of holiday delicacies. She opened a bag of Japanese tea; served not in green but brown, best before November 19th, 2023 while stored for at least one year and a half, as advised by a friendly shop clerk.
