Shin brought home boxes of cookies and tea bags from Hong Kong. His client made a queue to purchase the former, quite popular for decades. Oh, lovely bears prepare for coming lunar new year. Four flavors of shortbreads are within, full of butter. Light texture, not too sweet. Mei-Shun’s favorite is “coffee”, tube-pressed and brown. As to tea, “silver moon” is the best for her among six.

Full Moon
StandardShe is so beautiful tonight, looks a bit powerful than usual. Listen, Shin’s birthday gift to Mei-Shun was too gorgeous to keep freshness for a long time. It was Saturday when she purchased these laundry circles to dry them, just a week after they arrived at her hands as an arrangement. Please help them to stay alive in good shade, while the couple to enjoy it as long as possible.
Akemashite Omedeto
StandardSo 2019, the last year of 平成 Era started. What do you kind followers have in mind as goals? How about Mei-Shun, would you ask? Well, since New Year’s Day is on Tuesday, she feels like leaving a step in last year. May she therefore use several more days to think about it until Sunday, the first day of lunar December? That beautiful crescent, greeted her this morning before the sun came up, would give good advice.
Japanese Culture@holiday
StandardWe have the last of Emperor’s Birthday yesterday: our current emperor Akihito is set to abdicate next year. So would December 23rd be Heisei Day, like Showa Day (April 29th) was changed from the previous emperor Hirohito’s birthday? Anyway, that is why we share Christmas Eve and a happy Monday today. Shall we eat out like many young couples do, or stay at home, Shin?
Turquoise Beauty
StandardShin and Mei-Shun saw Turkish items when they dated in Tokyo last week. This blue carpet hit their eyes first, followed by lovely cushions and mats. Bowls and cups were also too fascinating to choose in a minute. They therefore left once, had lunch and came down again. Well, crescent and star pattern looks the best to use as a bed cover. This small mat would be a footrest, tulip bowl for fruits.
Broccoli!
StandardSo we had no 木枯らし1号, the 1st wind from the north which blows after 立冬 within November this year. Well, still in October on lunar calendar, warm air might stay longer. With that being one of reasons maybe, mom-in-law’s vegetables flourish these days. She gave some to her son and daughter-in-law; the former prefers stalk, while the latter buds.
Seventh Moon
StandardPurr, I feel so nice. This season has come for me to sleep on a blanket spread above the sofa, under mom’s 半纏=hanten, kimono-shape gown or gentle morning light. She also prepares for winter, bought a warm pants for horseback riding. Meow, stars shine on back pockets, I love it. And your yukata will change into normal kimono from tonight lesson, still a single one though.

StandardNearby rice paddy has been harvested, cut again after growing anew. Shining in gold for a while, it let Mei-Shun’s eyes enjoy. However, it was dug and turned around as 田起こし to air the soil and make left stalks good fertilizer (maybe), changed into gray. Bright autumnal sight is over, while observing Gods departed for 出雲 at the start of 神無月, lunar October from today.
13th Moon
StandardThanks to an autumnal clear sky, we could see 十三夜, the second most beautiful moon last night. Mei-Shun celebrated it by playing scores composed by Master Debussy and Beethoven featuring moonlight. She also would like to receive such magical power as much as possible, kept all shutters facing the south open while going outdoors. Oh, here comes sweetest silver coat. Welcome to share it with mom.
September 9th
Standard… on lunar calendar is today, called 重陽の節句. It is one of 五節句 including 七草, 桃, 端午, 七夕 and often represented by chrysanthemum flowers. With 京鹿子娘道成寺 symbolizing cherry blossom, it seems interesting to dance it in yukata full of autumnal patterns dyed on. Oh, crickets are singing under a bit cloudy half moon. Thanks to bring equanimity for Mei-Shun.
