Three weeks have passed since Mei-Shun saw her best weight in September. After riding horsey friends in three lessons, perspired much and starved, she had expected to get on a scale. Well, she did in half; one lesson in daytime boiled us, two at night washed and dried us by cold shower and wind. It was found that she is quite good at controlling herself, not thanks to a serious headache.

StandardAutumn has already reached 乙戸沼 Park. Fortunately, these pale orange fruits, perhaps blown together on the brick lane by storm, were not ripe enough to emit that odor — you have only to be wary not to step on them. On the other hand, your hats would be safe passing under these red candies whose mother tree might be a 楠=kusunoki, camphor grown in our backyard.
Paws Help
StandardSunny autumn days contribute well to mom-in-law: they are indispensable for her hobby to take care of our garden. When Mei-Shun hung futon mats in southern balcony, she found Tora-chan serving like an attendant. Yes, an empty box is always yours. Oops, sorry to interrupt you, Ms. Mantis. Mei-Shun saw you fly for the first time — or she did not know you can do it. Looking frail onto your back, wings really make good job.
Happy Birthday
StandardMom, Mei-Shun and her elder sister would like to say it again. They gathered at her home today to hold a lunch party celebrating her 2-month-delayed anniversary. She told them that a pack of crape mix is available, yet it was found to be for pancakes. Well, no problem. Two housewives were flexible enough to bake, cook and serve; green vegetable soup, pumpkin salad, potato filling and a mountain of pancakes were on the table.
Up and Down
StandardOn mom’s legs, look at my chatty tail. Since it is cool early in the morning and at night these days, I’d love to stay here. However, she is too busy to sit down and hold me every time I ask her to. Meow, do not therefore blame me when you find futon mats, quilt blankets and cushions soiled. It was not me who made them a rest room, hiss! Someone I don’t know did it. Just relax with me. Purr … purrrr …

Heart-Shaped
StandardI love to take a nap between mom’s legs. Purr, it is really comfortable … Oh? It seems we have a visitor. Are you leaving me alone here? Meow, all right. I still feel sleepy. Let me continue to enjoy this warm touch of your summer blanket. My ears are sensitive toward shutter sound, which sometimes makes me hiss and punch with front paws. Not so much today, take my generosity in camera display.

Cats, Cats
StandardThey came from 陶柿園 in 神楽坂. Which one do you kind followers like? For Mei-Shun, the one accommodating two cats looking up cherry blossom. Shin prefers another featuring black patches on a white coat, plays with a black friend and a colorful ball. An elegant bone china cat, looks a bit like Mikan-chan, attracted eyes of the former who gave up bringing her home shocked at the price tag.
Easy Cycling
StandardShin purchased an E-bicycle. He was quite pleased with one in Nara where he enjoyed cycling with his wife. Actually when they do the same years ago, electric-powered bikes were not available at rental shops. Getting elder, they felt great gratitude to technology. Tora-chan, are you ready to help Mei-Shun on this too-big cardboard case? Sweet girl, he always leaves such items, only waits her to do with them.
Mt. Moss
StandardMei-Shun found it spread over left-over soil –she took care of tomatoes and cucumbers in three pots on the roof floor. It might have seen two summers there, humidity of current one helped as well. Nobody knows if sultry weather in this July comes back, that would hurt this plant anyway. Hi, new friend, would you come to a balcony downstairs? Your green friends say they cannot wait to see you.

StandardMei-Shun sees many colorful envelopes of おぼんだま=o-bon-dama at post offices, supermarkets and convenience stores these days. Written all in ひらがな=hiragana, it took a time for her to recognize that it means お盆玉, obviously derived from お年玉=o-toshi-dama, new-year allowance. Summer vacation is equivalent to family reunion: giraffe-necked grandparents are ready to use them.
