Poor Kitten

Standard

A skinny kitten stays around the garage of Master Mei-Shu for 2 weeks. 2 kittens crouched in the porch at the time of previous lesson, yet only one was there last Friday. She never moves when Mei-Shun comes nearby, maybe with no power to run. We know who the culprit is – those who never take care of litters, nor stop breeding of their pets, be punished.

Driving in Kimono

Standard

Master Mei-Shu gave Mei-Shun a lesson from 18:00. Since it is too hard to drive midday in summer, lesson time would be late in the afternoon. As for winter, daytime is preferred to steer clear of sunset. In the first place, driving in kimono is quite dangerous …

Hot Lessons

Standard

Midsummer Japan, with such a hard humidity and high temperature, needs appropriate air-conditioning – it avoids both heat illness and summer cold. Japanese dance lessons, on the other hand, require cool-enough air for good concentration.

Too Cold, Hiss!

Standard

Torrid summer hurts us. Mikan-chan does not like cooled rooms, runs away soon after the air-conditioner starts working. She might feel artificial air “cold”. They say her ancestors are Libyan wild cats – living in the hot desert, they cannot stay in a cold place?

Summer Has Come!

Standard

Rainy season looks ended. Weather information said that it delayed one day compared to normal, while 16 days later than last year. Hard time started for Japanese dance lessons.

No Welcome

Standard

A little bat(!) was found flying around our living room at midnight. When and how did it come in? Mei-Shun tried hard to catch & release it. Mikan-chan was so frightened that she stayed under the table during her mom’s hunting. Could you please stay outdoors, wild lives?

Gi-On Festival

Standard

Kyoto Gi-On Festival season has come. From this year, Ato-Matsuri (=the latter celebration) is held on July 24th after half-a-century pause. Today’s Saki- (=the former) Matsuri has 23 portable shrines, parade along streets. Ato-Matsuri has other 10 shrines, including O-Fune-Hoko (=the big ship-shape shrine).

Ms. Piano

Standard

Almost 10 years have passed since this piano came to our home. We met her at a used-piano exhibition held in Tokyo. After every tuning once a year, she gives better tones. Chopin, Debussy, etc. is often played.

80% Performer

Standard

Mei-Shun learned how to dance “Echigo-Shihi” a few years ago. As a beginner, she did not understand well the way to write scores. That is why the score is tough to decode – mirror-like sketches sometimes appear. 80% is clear now, leaving sarashi part untouched.
