Tora-chan is a little eater. Mom-in-law feed her twice a day, yet two third of it would be left over. That is why another cats come to our garden at night. It causes fights between Tora-chan and such interlopers. A vicious circle it seems, while the worst might be that she prefers treats Mei-Shun give her.

She made it. Our futon mats were hung in the balcony to dry. Only for a few hours, yet it satisfied Mei-Shun after rainy days of a week and more. In the afternoon, dark clouds came up to bring a shower for a while. The weather forecast says it will rain hard tomorrow. Well, it’s good for our plants. Oh, you prefer refreshed blanket, Mikan-chan.

Autumn brings a happiness to Mei-Shun. As she sits on the sofa, Mikan-chan immediately comes onto her lap. Still in August, we have been enjoying cool weather from yesterday. It seems a bit too soon, yet it would be hot and humid again in a few days. Let’s make a good preparation in mind and body, baby.

Tora-chan sometimes “takes a trip”, ranging from a few days to a week. We have no right to stop her, just have only to wait. Before her latest missing, we heard an angry voice at night. Any interloper might come into her territory including our garden. You live a severe, free and wild life, honey. We are always ready to feed you, yet cannot let you enter. So sorry. Oh, your sweet attitudes would spoil us …
Sweet touch
Some pet cats punches out room items to make their places, yet Mikan-chan has never done it from her kitten-hood. She has a fine dexterity to move between small pieces, keeping their positions at window-side, on the piano, desk, etc. Oh, sorry for that messy nature around Shin’s futon mat.
Sleepy …
In the middle of summer, we often find a fluffy Sphinx relaxing on the floor. Only different from the one in Egypt is that she continues to swing her tail listening to songs of cicadas. When they fly nearby, this creature disappears to rush toward the window.

On tatami
Mikan-chan knows well the best place to take a nap. Her current favorite is a narrow space in oshiire (=Japanese-style closet) of our bedroom. Here is the way she sometimes notifies mom where she stays. And please find coins which Shin generously left in the pocket.

Mikan-chan’s favorite pieces include Nocturne Op. 9. No. 2 by Chopin, Pavane pour une Infante Défunte by Ravel, Clair de Lune by Debussy, etc. When finger exercises are finished, she comes back to the living room. Here is her expression of satisfaction at mom’s performance.
