Mei-Shun has to say so sorry for leaving you in the closet. She asked Shin to do her a favor of you in spring. And she did the same for another dress, forgetting to have meant to enjoy summer with you. All right, it is your turn. Let’s go to Tokyo for a date with him. Since today is 大安=tai-an, they would try to win a lottery purchasing some of Summer Jumbo.

My Target
StandardMeow, they have come again. I can’t stand seeing them buzz on our balcony floor. However, mom would not like me to open net windows by front paws, shuts me out from it with heavy glasses. We have 立秋=risshu, the first of autumn 二十四節気 she told me this morning. That might be why they give no chorus in such a sultry weather — humid, over 30 degrees Celsius at 8 o’clock.

Happy Birthday
Standard… to you, mom, now on vacation at her cottage in Kusatsu. It rains hard with respites for a while all day long today unlike normal years. Mei-Shun would like to e-mail her, yet communication between Ibaraki and Gunma Prefectures really depends. Mom has been surprised by messages from her younger daughter delivered at midnight. Their voice on line never sound comfortable …
Joy at Kyoto: 3
StandardWhat a humor of 二条城 administration staffers! Entrance tickets are called 入”場”券 at museums, amusement parks and railway stations in Japan while 入”城”券 here, pronounced the same yet the latter meaning a castle. Well, morning walkers like Shin and Mei-Shun passed by the front gate, which accommodated night guards in Edo Period (1603-1868), headed into the wide garden.
Back and Forth
StandardAs it has become sultry, I gave up taking a nap at roof floor moving down to stairs one by one. Purr, it is very nice to feel breeze from the west in the morning. However, just a few days since rainy season was over, dark clouds and humid air continue to accompany the sunrise. Even recent 大暑=taisho, the last of summer 二十四節気 failed to be the hottest. Season is going like mom’s diet, meow.

Joy at Kyoto: 1
StandardShin and Mei-Shun purchased three 粽=chimaki, artifacts made of straw with purification ritual at 函谷鉾=Kanko-Hoko, 鶏鉾=Niwatori-Hoko and 菊水鉾=Kikusui-Hoko. It might not be right to buy so many, said to cause struggle between saints, yet they are too attractive to choose one. Interestingly, Kyoto residents look proud of hanging the most popular 粽 from 長刀鉾=Naginata-Hoko.
My Friend
StandardMs. Piano takes good care of my mom who currently in practice of “Fantasia” from Nausicaä, Princess of Windy Valley. It looks she has to avoid any interference in mind while learning the score. I feel a bit jealous when she is in such a concentration, sometimes jump over her feet on pedals. She just smiles and softly asks me to stop, since she knows I never climb up to keys to play by myself.

Shocking Pink
StandardMom, why are you laughing alone? Your fitness pants? Meow, what happened to it?? She drove to 乙戸沼 Park in the morning, walked around the pond looking for lady’s tresses. When she stretched her right leg, tight feeling on the left thigh suddenly disappeared. She saw inner cloth say hello between navy threads. So you found another pink on yourself instead of the ground. Purr …

Day by Day
StandardWe have many hydrangeas around here. One of Mei-Shun’s favorite is this in pale pink at the Ys. They are kind enough to leave two hydrangeas and one camellia in backyard, let us enjoy them from the beginning of blossom. Oh, Ms. Lespedeza, why you are so hasty? Your beauty would culminate in autumn. Please do not compete with a flower of rainy season.
Her Strategy
StandardTora-chan has several safe places to relax on, except for her outdoor bed beside mom-in-law’s living room. It might be one of them, a compressor unit of air-conditioner at next-door the Ys. She seems to choose the best place according to circumstances, not always follow mom-in-law who cannot but welcome her little friend anytime when she rushes into our front door.
