Happy Reunion

Standard

Mei-Shun met her high-school classmates Yuko-san and Kaori-san at 維新號 in Ginza. She was so happy to see them after around 2 years when the latter kindly came all the way from Tokyo to Tsuchiura, with her husband to see 汐汲. They looked satisfied with lunch of 7 courses, making the organizer feel relieved who lists this Chinese restaurant on the top.

Thanks, Kaori-san.

Respect Melons

Standard

They seem to like early, sultry summer of this year: the third couple visited Shin and Mei-Shun. Oh, what a lovely ornament you put on! Is it handmade of your producer? Nice idea to help them wait for a while to enjoy gist of you two. Beauty in looks means taste of the same, at least for fresh fruits. It has taken longer time to ripe than their predecessors, yet the result was just incredible.

Ayu Season

Standard

Shin and Mei-Shun met at one of their favorite Japanese cuisine restaurant for lunch today. The biggest reason why the wife asked a favor of the husband follows below — grilled sweetfish. She would like to have it with him at least once in July, when fishing of this delicacy starts from the beginning. Oh, how dynamic it looks accompanied by 蓼酢=tade-su, herb-flavored vinegar.

Lunch Beer

Standard

Just a glass of it. Light alcohol in daytime makes Mei-Shun feel that grown-ups are privileged in a way. This is a brand quite popular, summer gift from a neighbor. Japanese beer is bitter compared to European products, or at least it seems so to her. She therefore prefers to use simple soda to dilute it into panaché. Red Eye with tomato juice is not bad, yet tastes like soup rather than cocktail.

Japanese Culture@holiday

Standard

Not only in our country, watermelons seem to be the most popular fruit in summer. Here is 金福=kin-fuku one grown specifically in Gifu Prefecture. With kin means “gold” while fuku “happiness” in Japanese, they are so loved by Hong Kong people that we must be in a hurry to order and enjoy them before exported. He is also satisfied, smiling to come to Shin and Mei-Shun.

Peanuts Serve

Standard

Shin rarely had a day off yesterday. He cleaned his study room while Mei-Shun lead her normal day till noon. They went out for lunch at いしじま, one of their favorite soba restaurants nearby. Looking up from a menu, the wife found a poster featuring bottled beer from K. company produced at their Toride plant. It means freshness available only in Ibaraki Prefecture!

Summer Delicacy

Standard

Mei-Shun’s elder sister sent the younger boxes of cherry as usual. Not only this excellent looks but also taste is just incredible, makes eyelids of anybody lightly closed to feel it as much as possible. With a slight problem to be a bit too big in quantity, as Professor K used to give fresh しらす=shirasu, baby sardine caught at 片瀬海岸 where he lived with his gentle wife.

Called Pink

Standard

Yesterday morning, Mei-Shun drove to one of her favorite bakeries. She needed to turn to the left at the second corner, yet to the first with no intention. Then she came across it — a silk tree in full blossom. Hello, great to see you in the same color. She tends to choose bright shade in clothes and accessories on rainy days, refraining from perfume while going opposite to sunny weather.

Pumpkin Salad

Standard

Oh, they failed — or made one Mei-Shun does not like. She prefers ほくほく=hoku-hoku texture in this vegetable full of beta-Carotene and sweet potatoes. Such ねっとり=nettori, creaminess is literally for dairy products, she complains. However, foods should not be thrown away. Then a good idea came across: how it would be if frozen? She was just right, succeeded in yummy ice cream.

Peanut Invitation

Standard

Shin and Mei-Shun found a good soba restaurant. They had been interested in the following statue which symbolizes one of products, not business founders. Hi, great to drop in at your place for the first time. Oh? What are those sacks piled beside the shop? Peanut shells and … those of soba, meaning the latter is also available here. Ah-ha, free space for tea has evolved into this.
