We have 春分=shunbun, vernal equinox and the 4th of spring 二十四節気 today. Momo-chan, garden princess at Mei-Shun’s home, started to bloom last week. Thanks to warmer-than-usual temperature, she has already put on 80% of her kimono in bright pink. Please do not dance too fast, Your Highness. The later 100% follows, the more it would be appreciated.
Mei-Shun went out on Ms. Scarlet this morning to see Dr. A after getting CT scan. Thanks to rainy yesterday, refreshing air seems humid enough to stop dust and cedar pollen flying around. And oh, it is White Day set in combination with St. Valentine’s Day celebrated last month. Thank you so much, Dr. K and Professor M. She wishes above delicacies to bring nice news.
Meow, mom received a phone call from her elder sister Y. I’ve not seen the latter, yet often heard of. “Her youngest daughter, your cousin M passed the entrance examination to University of Tsukuba! She would be an Ibaraki resident soon,” she told me smiling. Dad is also satisfied with this news, calls M-chan a smart girl. I cordially wish them a good friendship.

Mei-Shun received 番付表 of sumo wrestling held in Osaka from 12th via Shin the other day. He is not so much a fan of this sport, yet kindly joined a group to support nearby 二所ノ関 stable for his wife. Oh, one of them re-entered 十両 rank where her favorite 力士 belongs at the top. By the way, her tall friends living also in stables gave a bit dance today.
So this is the last day of current month for Mei-Shun to see horseies. As Mikan-chan kindly mentioned before, she could keep healthy enough to attend all reserved lessons. Rain, snow and gale prevented her from doing it twice, yet other Mondays, one Wednesday and Thursdays made it. See you again next month, on similar schedule to 4-week February in 卯年.
Yes, Mei-Shun put one on Shin’s desk while he was having a morning bath. It is from a shop in Tokyo as usual, gave her a nice experience this year. She ordered it to arrive with regular parcels, yet a delivery business mistakenly brought the box to another place. It made her contact a lady in charge, who helped well until a white package filled with good sweets reached worried hands. Thanks a million, Ms. I.
Here is the first flavor of spring in 2023 for Mei-Shun, a sakura lover. She can never stop purchasing such pink sweets sometimes combined with green tea. Makers might let them represent vernal views in our country: that five-petal flower in full blossom accompanied by young buds and leaves. One bag was allowed onto her table tonight after seeing better numbers on a scale.
We have 節分=setsu-bun, on the border of winter today before 立春=risshun, the 1st of vernal and all 二十四節気 tomorrow. It is also lunar birthday of Mei-Shun who visited the nearest shrine to greet Gods. Oh, omikuji lots would still be handed by a priest, who was not at a reception desk. He might be preparing to hold a ceremony in the main building, with candles lit and chairs arranged.
As sweetest Mikan-chan kindly posted yesterday, lunar 2023 started on Sunday. Shin and Mei-Shun visited the nearest shrine, greeted Gods before receiving omikuji lots from a priest. On solar 元旦=New Year’s Day, the husband was given 小吉=sho-kichi, a little lucky while the wife 吉=kichi, lucky. This time both of above couple saw 吉=kichi in different numbers.
