Joy in the Moonlight

Standard

We have clear 十三夜, a moon on lunar September 13th tonight. 十五夜, another on lunar August 15th, is rare to be like this. Although rounder, she tends to keep shy wrapped in a cloudy dress. By the way, “Twelfth Night” by Shakespeare is translated into Japanese as 十二夜. 尾上菊之助 or Kikunoe Ryu head Sensha has played it on stage in kimono, directed by late Y. Ninagawa.

Charming Friends

Standard

Hi, Mr. Vanilla, great to see you again after 2 weeks. Mei-Shun missed you so much during 6-day rainfall followed by a severe storm. Gentle boy, thank you for being always careful not to bite her breast while chewing her air-bag vest. Good evening, Madoka-chan, how’s it getting along? Look at the seventh-day crescent, graceful and looks like your ears.

Japanese Culture@wkday

Standard

We have 霜降=soko, the 6th and last of autumn 二十四節気 today. It means morning dew could be frozen by cold air, while the opposite temperature warmer than 20 degrees Celsius covered Kanto area after Typhoon Lan’s attack. It washed up Mei-Shun’s car as well who saw a mantis dry his/her wings in sunlight. Fourth-day crescent floats peacefully in western sky.

Sincerely Yours

Standard

Japanese dance joined cat and piano in Mei-Shun’s life approx. 10 years ago. Now, has she been capable of mentioning equally these three biggest joys here so far? Health, diet and exercise tend to eat away music these days, don’t they? With 朔 accompanied by lunar September tonight, she should straighten herself up again to stay loyal to Ms. Piano whose tuning has been delayed for 2 months.

Best Moon

Standard

Oh, she comes up from tree tops. Mei-Shun feels so happy to have such a clear sky, which slight shower washed crossing sunshine yesterday. We can enjoy 十五夜 or 仲秋の名月=chushu-no-meigetsu, the most beautiful moon in the middle of autumn tonight. Thanks to Shin who brought tasty 月餅 from Hong Kong on weekend, his wife passed by sweet rice dumplings this year.

Lunar August

Standard

We see the slightest moon tonight. With 朔, the best day to make a wish tomorrow, Mei-Shun is still wondering how to get along with her diet. Since it has become cooler as Mikan-chan mentioned recently, perspiration during walking and horse riding is not so much compared to the one in summer. Maybe another method is necessary — “once-a-week sweets” is on the top of candidate methods list.

She Stagnates

Standard

Lunar July starts with tonight’s 朔=saku. What would Mei-Shun wish? Of course, success in her weight management. Actually, it has stopped losing for 12 weeks so far. She lost more than 2 bags of sugar in the first month, thanks to 8-hour carbo method. That means it works well to keep her current shape. Well, one more sack is necessary to go for health, several more for vogue.

Baby clothes purify bad luck.

After 2Y + 19Wks

Standard

Thank you so much, Dr. A, who gave Mei-Shun a “Yes” phone call during this o-bon vacation. That became the happiest お盆玉 for the latter. She celebrated it with a glass of tasty 月の桂=tsuki-no-katsura, a cloudy and sparkling sake made in Kyoto. Scotch whiskey, 芋焼酎=imo-shochu and 泡盛=awamori are normally preferred, it has never brought her a hangover.

Slightest Moon

Standard

We will see 朔 of lunar June tomorrow, which means the best day to make a wish with 大安=tai-an. It is the best luck in 六曜=roku-yo, one of 暦注=reki-chu which means fortune of each date and direction written on solar calendar. Ah-ha, Mei-Shun did not understand these words before starting this weblog. She is so thankful to you kind followers: it is you who make her learn more.

Missing You

Standard

Eight years have passed since Mei-Shun’s beloved father started his longest journey. A bit busy in daytime, she made a phone call to her mother living alone in the evening. Yes, mom, it rained 涙雨 during his funeral, left us full of tears before seeing clear sunlight. Oh, look at that 十五夜 moon. She might kindly come up to soothe our mind in spite of rainy season.
