Hard to Follow

Standard

Mei-Shun started to practice “Salut d’Amour” by E. Elgar at Shin’s request. We found this title on the net by chance, as “Gymnopédie“. It sounds sweet and clear, so a simple score has been expected. However, it carries four sharps! Mei-Shun has no perfect pitch. It would take a time to play smoothly …

Ms. Piano Returned

Standard

It’s found to be Gymnopédie by Erik Satie! For an easy sleep at the hospital, Mei-Shun picked up many pieces of heeling music. And this melody came up following others. She immediately asked Shin to order the music score. Simple enough to play, but comfortable to your ears.

Beautiful Songs

Standard

“Lieder ohne worte” by Mendelssohn seems to welcome any lyrics. No. 20 Allegro non troppo, called 浮雲; uki-gumo meaning “clouds floating in the sky” is one of the most favorite pieces of Mei-Shun. She has begun to recall the melody after around 30 years!

Piano Practice

Standard

Mei-Shun sometimes ask Shin to give a request for her piano. When he chooses “flashy one”, it means Debussy’s Arabesque. “Moonlight” is either the one by Debussy or the other by Beethoven. Any pieces need a good finger exercise to play clearly.

Excellent Music

Standard

Mei-Shun’s last piano instructor Ms. S informed that one of her works won a musical prize held in Tokyo last year. Based on “Csikos Post” by Hermann Necke, it sounds lively, showing her passion and techniques poured on the keyboard.

Great Techniques

Standard

Mei-Shun’s favorite figure skater chose Ballade, Chopin for his short program this year. Quadruple- and other jumps must be the most difficult, while the piano music requires the finest techniques to play perfectly. It is honorable to see them accomplished with tough practice and never-give-up mindset.

Tra-la-lah~

Standard

Hello again, Ms. Piano. Mei-Shun performed safely last Sunday. This month, she is free from Japanese dance lessons – enough time for communication with you. Let’s sing together♪

Ta-Dah!

Standard

Ms. Piano jabbed Mei-Shun in the head when she was warming up before dance practice. No pain, but your message is clear. Just 5 minutes communication between us these days – left you alone, making you nearly fade out of the tug cloud. Sorry, my lady. It would be your turn after November 2.

Lonely Piano

Standard

As performance date approaches, Ms. Piano tends to be left alone. She is sometimes forced to be a kimono holder after Mei-Shun comes back from lessons. No, she would like to sing, rather than being treated like a piece of furniture. Just 5 minutes must not be spared for her.

Choice of Music

Standard

Mei-Shun plays Prélude “La Goutte d’Eau”, Chopin on sunny days, while “Claire de Lune”, Debussy on rainy days. “Moonlight Sonata” by Beethoven has also been heard this week.
