Welcome back from Canada, Shin, via Kyoto. He caught a cold, yet seems to have recovered on board thanks to virus-free air. Mei-Shun cooked 冬瓜 gourd, one of this couple’s favorite vegetables. Do you kind 529 followers wander why it has winter in name? Kept fresh until freezing season in storage is the reason. Autumnal 季語 for haiku includes it as well.
Here Shin kindly sent Mei-Shun photos taken in Canada: one of them is a supermarket accommodating a 楓 tree. It resembles Japanese breed planted along a street in Tsukuba. We are still in late summer, see almost no change among leaves there. On the other paw of Mikan-chan, North American temperature is already several degrees Celsius lower than ours.
Happy birthday, sweetest girl for Shin and Mei-Shun. Your dad is on board toward Canada, mom just received “Yes” phone call from Dr. A. What a brilliant present, how charming you are! Gently transferred yours to mom, didn’t you? Here is another from dad, an image whose beauty we would share together someday: he has been to that country on business only.
Mei-Shun noticed that her passport and driver’s license will expire soon; the former at the end of March 2026, the latter in mid February. She makes it a kind of rule to take required photos putting on kimono. Her allergy between clavicles has avoided it so far, yet is healing little by little thanks to good medication. Cooler air came into Kanto region, would help her in near future.
… Mei-Shun made the other day, one for herself and the other for Shin. The former was delivered yesterday, in a tiny package. The wife therefore put it on husband’s desk taking it his parcel. “It is yours”, he told her showing a part of summer shoes. Hmm, she likes them whose price were quite reasonable. However, his products arrived today were made of polyester — not 100% cotton.
Here they are, looking like little baby bottoms. One of Shin’s friends gave them as a memento of his hometown Fukushima, while might not know they are among pet fruits for Mei-Shun. She actually feels not so fine this morning: sleepy with a bit sore throat. Such timing always appreciates vitamin, juice and gracefulness. Protein and a lot of water must also be taken.
It is normally the day for me and mom to visit “Arles”, accompanied by dad if weekend or holiday. However, he stays in Hokkaido where 2-night reunion is held from yesterday. Since souvenir delicacies are highly expected, we just wait at home. By the way, happy to see Mr. Air Conditioner stop weeping after Friday when we headed Tsukuba horsey riding club.

Just one month has passed since Mei-Shun decided to practice “La Cinquantaine” and “Habanera” every time she opens Ms. Piano lid. That resulted in much better flow of melodies, gives her joy of finger singing. After such a pleasure, Mikan-chan and her mom got on Ms. Scarlet to achieve another with horseies. However, several drops from white sky turned into a shower.
Forecast rainfall started around 15 : 00, following sky in shade of my coat, purr. I felt rejoice from ground and plants at nose, so did mom who was ironing dad’s shirts. We were a bit worried about power outage hearing distant thunder, while had no problem. By the way, drops also sound in our living room: Mr. Air Conditioner still weeps working. We hope to give him good rest tomorrow.
