Mei-Shun’s first workplace in Shinagawa accommodated splendid view from a wide window facing the sea under an expressway bridge, where rainbow often saw us rejoice its perfect color and shape. A national research institute has many lovely trees including her favorite 山櫻=yama-sakura, a wild cherry. And her current office at home enjoys Christmas cactus in a big pot of Shin’s grandfather this year.

Persimmon Art
StandardDr. K kindly sent a box of beautiful 富有柿 to Mei-Shun the other day. She was very happy while a bit surprised, e-mailed him to show her appreciation. He immediately replied that above persimmons are from his birthplace 岐阜. His remote relatives living there own an orchid, began to enclose these beautiful leaves and a leaflet in fruit boxes following his wife’s advice.
Joy in the Moonlight: 2
StandardOur protector shrine has several 灯篭=toro, Japanese garden lamp made of stone. When candles are put into narrow space under big shades, unique designs curved on the wall appear. Mei-Shun knows well they are there, yet it was just this morning that she recognized moon shapes on them. One side wears a full moon while another a crescent: it might mean the beginning and the end of things.
Good Job
StandardMom-in-law is really good at sewing. She came up to Mei-Shun this morning in a new dressing gown, which the latter had seen somewhere else. Oh, it was Shin’s summer shirt. Nice color and pleasant feel of it might have stirred her capacity. Her eyes catch every rare information at home as well. Thanks to them, her daughter-in-law recognized that a light on the roof floor has been turned on — for weeks!
Happy Tone
StandardGood for you, Ms. Piano. When Mei-Shun plays “Merry-go-round of Life” by J. Hisaishi these days, you sound like having a little sore throat. That is why she contacted Mr. O to give you a tuning. In spite of cold rain, he visited them in the morning, asked what is going on for you. He touched you a moment, immediately caught the problem and started his job — oh? You cough as well?
Tea Room?
StandardMei-Shun’s hairdresser is a pottery lover. She often visits Kasama City, famous for good products, to choose pretty cups served to her customers. Recent one used for green tea was excellent with patterns of lotus flower, on a piece of lovely wooden coaster which looks like to be made of origami, art of folding paper. Such a space of relaxation, her shop is called a “hair room”.
Shall I Dance?
StandardYes, you had better do, Mei-Shun told to herself. Two weekends of October have passed, yet she had no contact from Master Mei-Shu. Wondering what is going on, it must be taken as a chance to feel independent. Her purpose to dance is to perform on a stage, hoping her family and friends would enjoy it. She should improve her technique by practice while watching good performances as much as possible.
Peach Princess
StandardNamed きららの極み=kirara-no-kiwami, Extremely Shiny, they arrived into Mei-Shun’s arms. How pretty, and how tasty you are left in room temperature for three days! Growers recommend to have them immediately after delivery, yet she prefers softer mouthfeel. Interested in environmental difference, she put tags on each fruit to recognize time before stored in the refrigerator.
Lucky Owl
StandardPlease call him Fuku-chan. Drew Mei-Shun into his round eyes the other day, he sits on a 座布団=zabuton, Japanese cushion handmade by mom-in-law from her son’s Aloha shirt. It has become not only too big for Shin but also out of his summer trend. Yet as a textile, it is very smooth in 100% silk while with lovely goldfish and flower in nice coloring. Why don’t we make the most of it?
Ripe Rice
StandardIt seems they started harvest from this weekend. The easternmost ears all stopped listening to us, bundled and dried on bamboo hangers. Mei-Shun felt somehow warm when she walked passing by them — do they emit heat while fermented? Under sunlight and rainfall one after another, they might be naturally cooked before peeled and steamed into shining white.
