When Shin and Mei-Shun arrived at 飛鳥寺, a pheasant guy began to declare his territory. They beat a big bell once respectively to greet him under the gaze of guardian little frog, entered the room to see handsome 飛鳥大仏. Oh, welcome to our car, dear ladybug. 六臂如意輪観音 sits elegantly in a dedicated building called 観音堂 of 橘寺. He/She has a gorgeous 光背=kohai, decorative metal structure set behind Buddhism statues to express light coming from sacred bodies, fully shown to public eyes when Mei-Shun and Shin visited him/her years ago. However, it was covered with square fabric this time, made him/her look much smaller. Or he/she might feel like playing hide-and-seek.
Mei-Shun loves 橘寺. Shin prefers 飛鳥寺. In detail, the former admires 六臂如意輪観音 while the latter 飛鳥大仏. Thanks to heavy rainfall on Saturday, air was washed up for clear Sunday. Starting from 石舞台, they enjoyed cycling with rental bicycles assisted by electric motors. Oh, we can see pretty 蓮華, Astragalus sinicus still left on rice paddy ready to be watered.

熱川バナナワニ園 hangs Wani-Nobori, streamers with alligator printing. At the hospital Mei-Shun stayed 2 years before, you would find in the lobby a gorgeous arrangement of 五月人形=gogatsu-ningyo, samurai dolls to celebrate Children’s Day. When Mei-Shun was one of them, she has never seen it at boy classmates’ homes. Carp streamers outdoors looked more popular, yet shrinking economy might not be able to afford them.
Not of the valley though, our first one bloomed recently at the foot of Momo-chan going into green. From the beginning of solar April, our eyes have enjoyed pink represented by her of course while various cherries in public places, followed by current white including 姫空木 mother and daughter. Blue of wisteria soon, iris a little later will replace them. And rose, queen of flower would fill us with pleasure at 旧古河庭園.
Great to see this date — two years have already passed since Mei-Shun had the operation. She has never seen the carp princess after leaving the hospital, while saw many in the air at Tokyo Tower on Saturday. We would be able to see them swim lively within Golden Week, 10-day leave this year including serial weekdays on May 1st and 2nd. Mei-Shun hopes it allows her to forget a phone call from Dr. A.

When she saw the “symbol tree” with light-pink flowers half open a week ago, others in brighter shade looked still sleepy. Or they had become senile she worried, yet it was proved to be wrong. After that she met Dr. M for a checkup in every half an year. One tooth was found in a poor condition, not caused by sweets.
熱川バナナワニ園 have many greenhouses accommodating tropical fruits, flowers and the manatee boy of course. They knock Mei-Shun and Shin down with such lovely round shapes — that’s why they named him Mammal-kun. Not only for his species, mal means “round” in Japanese written 丸 or 円. Other examples include banana, coffee and papaya as well. Sorry to exclude you, star fruit, while we love your unique looks.
Shin and Mei-Shun visited 熱川 yesterday to see the only Amazonian manatee kept in our country. Net news said he is around 50 years old, came to a botanical garden there in 1969 yet has no name so far. Oh, we cannot call such a cute creature? Voice of his fans lead to public soliciting of his nickname. We have to appear in person to cast our ballots? All right, we would love to.
