Next appointment was at a nearby hair saloon, before going to a post office to send St. Valentine’s gift to respected doctors. After lunch, she went ahead to another police station to renew driver’s license.

It is the first time for Mei-Shun to walk to the nearest shrine in solar 2021. And it is also the last in lunar one starts from tomorrow. Novel coronavirus affects this place as well; hand-washing stone basin never stores water but ever let it flow, box of omikuji lots is accompanied by a bottle of sanitizer, reception table behind A-chan has a transparent curtain.
Mei-Shun planed to visit a police station in Tsukuba to renew her driver’s license. Since a piece of photo is necessary, she used an automatic photographer twice — one in kimono, the other taken before riding a horsey. Shin preferred the former, chosen to work for 5 years. Thank you so much, Dr. A, who gave Mei-Shun “Yes” phone call on Saturday. The latter just came home from kabuki dance lesson at Master Bando’s place as today. Her regular lessons are on Tuesdays shared with a new student Ms. S, while sometimes on weekend with Mihoryu-san who has already gained certificate of 師範. This 名取 would be able to enjoy it feeling a kind of free until next appointment in July.

Mei-Shun saw her shine in dawn purple. Yes, lunar New Year’s Day takes only one week left. Still freezing in the morning and evening, yet sunrise is getting earlier while sunset later. It is helpful for this housewife to start laundry machine just after breakfast, vacuum rooms and hang futon mats. It serves Mikan-chan as well for longer sunbathing on the sofa, shampooing carefully.
… or so-so, Mei-Shun’s weight control these days. In 春一番=Spring First, moderate southern breeze in Tokyo between 立春 and 春分=vernal equinox which recorded the earliest this year, she enjoyed dancing with Mr. Bruno and Princess Maria. Thanks to their powerful jumping or pulling rein perhaps, she saw acceptable numbers on the scale. Now is happy time of good dessert from Hokkaido.
It is alone for Mei-Shun today, Shin went on one-night business trip to Hokkaido. And it is never nonessential or non-urgent for the wife to go out for a hair saloon, feeling of excursion just follows. Ushiku Pond, rippled by northern wind and Cup-noodle Chimney, redecorated to give clear white steam looked friendly as always through windows. Sky Tree, great to take your photo at dusk.
Meow, we heard it is very rare to have 節分=setsu-bun; just one day before 立春=risshun, the 1st of spring 二十四節気, not tomorrow but today. It is for the first in recent 124 years — at the end of Meiji Era, when mom’s great-grandparents were young. And it sounds like my day along with 3, 22 and 23 while with dogs 12 and 13. Not 4 and 24 when I say hiss!

Thanks for bringing home nice snacks, Shin. He went on a business trip last week to Nagano where his alma mater is located. Mei-Shun often visited 蓼科高原 there in summer vacation, yet this child’s memory seems to stay only on images of her family. It might be a person or couple who is able to make good plans in advance to enjoy beautiful sights, hotel and gourmet.
