Umbrella Lover

Mei-Shun is, would never like to get wet even in slight rain. Shin and his mother are real antonyms — they say it does not rain when the poor wife and daughter-in-law rush back to the porch to pick up one of her collection. Its color is ranging from violet to red, texture from plastic to cloth. Isn’t it enjoyable to coordinate your clothes with that great artifice like shoes and bags?

This is her favorite.

Ripe Soon

Mei-Shun plays better that score composed by Master Bach these days. It is thanks to the radio program she used to listen to: she has stopped learning Spanish for three-fourth year by an intention. When she aims to acquire fluency on piano, not only her fingers but also ears need time and concentration to absorb melody. That might be because she has a kind of resistance in brain to accept something new.

Thanks, mom-in-law.

Lollipop City

Following below is Shin’s souvenir from Las Vegas. It was skin-grilling there, yet so dry that felt quite easy, he told Mei-Shun. On the other hand, they are in the latter half of rainy season here, with temperature around 25 degrees Celsius. However, 100% humidity almost every day makes them feel heavy both in mind and body. It is not an excuse by the wife whose weight keeps stagnant lately.

Crispy Chance

Lunar June starts from today. Clouds have been too thick to see the moon at night, yet it does not matter tonight. Mei-Shun feels lucky to have rainfall stop from yesterday afternoon, meant to walk but ride to the nearest shrine after 3-week respite. We have what current season is this year, that is all right. So she made a simple wish to Gods: please save us all on the Japanese archipelago.

Welcome Home

Meow, I saw dad after a week. Mom was a bit panicked, maybe because she woke up around the time when his car arrived in front of the gate early this morning. After a flight of nearly a whole day, he looked quite tired. She therefore prepared bath and breakfast immediately, while the woman she calls mom-in-law cooked pork ginger. Now everything’s over, hold me on your knee. Purr … purrr …

Another Half

Standard

Here 水無月=minazuki, annual delicacy for Shin and Mei-Shun follows below. Since the husband is still in Las Vegas, the wife took his role to enjoy half of it besides her own — two tasty triangles. It means to wish health and happiness in latter half of the year on June 30th, a custom originated from Kyoto. Above couple loves to visit this ancient capital, while to try pretty sweets there.

Rainbow Doubled

晴耕雨読 meaning to farm on sunny day, to read on rainy day used to be our custom in good old days. And it still continues in how Mei-Shun does; to enjoy horsey-back riding when it is from clear to cloudy, to dance when it rains or snows. She owes all of it to Shin who works hard no matter what color the sky puts on, saying that her smiling, healthy face deserves every bacon he brings home.

Lovely Guests

Standard

Have you kind followers seen cactus flower? Mickey-face one in mom-in-law’s garden suddenly went into lemon-yellow bloom last month. Baby mantis, great to see you again. And your appearance on the floor of Shin and Mei-Shun is really appreciated, gecko darling. Hey Tora-chan, please do not try to assault the latter after shower. She is already in pajamas, would not like your paws walked outdoors.

Dental Care

Standard

It has become very important for Mei-Shun in recent several years. Her teeth are firmly established, thanks to late father. However, so much a lover of sweets from childhood, she let many molars decayed, covered with metal including gold — greedy dentists might partly cheat her doleful mother. Good Dr. M is on the opposite side of such a scale, gives necessary treatment and regular check like today.

Thanks mom-in-law, for 100% handmade croquettes from planting potatoes.

Great Tea

Standard

It is a gift from Mei-Shun’s mother. After she welcomed her younger daughter at home, they often drop in a tea shop on the way to the nearest station. Interestingly, green tea of the lowest price tastes the best. According to the shop owner, it is because we tend to use more leaves than expensive ones. Well then, how this master’s handmade works? Here is seasonal delicacy, the best fit for a cup of green tea.
