Mei-Shun had to cancel today’s lesson for horseback riding — shower, flurry and sunlight come one after another, confusing her so much that she finally stopped making decision. Storm always means a stay-at-home. Even airplanes avoided landing at Haneda Airport this morning, still less do a poor driver.
miss you
Missing Horsey
StandardAnd Mei-Shun is still haunted by it. She had reserved a lesson for this morning; Friday, 90-minute, by Ms. I, it has been the best for her to concentrate so far. Well, similar accident could occur anytime. It looks better to change her schedule, into evening for example. As it gets warmer, annoying flies increase to attack horses. Sunlight burns our skin.
Be Watchful
StandardThis is Queen Peach, mother of Momo-chan whose slender sister is seen on this side. The latter had passed away one year after the photo below was taken. Mei-Shun heard it from mom recently, shocked so much. We have to be like 桜守=sakura-mori, gardeners who take care of famous cherry trees while growing descendants of current breeds to keep loved beauty for long time.
Good Guys
StandardMs. I, Mei-Shun’s favorite instructor in horseback riding, gave a phone call. Yes, she misses you and lovely horses so much so far — the red eye has prevented her from attending the classes. Now that it’s 95% healed, she hopes to see them on coming Friday.
Shio-Kumi: 2
StandardHowever, he was called back to the capital soon — time always flies for young lovers. Broken-heart 松風 and 村雨 had only to get along, with a kimono he left as a reminder. This story was first produced into a 能 =Noh played by two performers, later descended to Japanese dance by one performer.
Twin Kittens
StandardProfessor M, University of Tsukuba, is a cat fancier. Since his beloved Chonko-chan passed away, a violet girl called Mikeko-chan started to visit the Ms. They took her as a messenger from Chonko-chan, and recently accepted her children at home. Hello, Blanc-chan and Coo-chan.
Sincerely Expected
StandardMei-Shun’s mother has failed to see her daughter on stage for 3 times. For the first 梅の栄 (=Ume-no-Sakae, plum blossom celebration), she was too busy involved in community jobs. The second 島の千歳 (=Shima-no-Senzai, Ms. Entertainer) appeared during her trip to mountains. And she had a fever just one day before 越後獅子 dance last year. We wish nothing prevent her from seeing Master Mei-Shu, this time for sure.
100th Ohagi
StandardThank you so much, mom. It is the best sweet for us, Mei-Shun and her older sister. Since her anko is rather sweet, we need to control quantity of it for coating a rice ball. Sometimes ohage (=bald ball!) appears in our hands. Well, no problem; tastiness is the most important. You say so, dad?
Golden Wedding Anniversary
StandardMei-Shun’s mother enjoyed making ohagi with her granddaughter for this ohigan (=an equinoctial week). Her loved husband asked his young bride to do it during their honeymoon in 1965. It served therefore the 100th celebration for the couple. Congratulations, dearest daddy and mommy.
Disturbing Rash
StandardThey suddenly assaulted Mei-Shun’s palms. Shockingly ugly and incredibly itchy — it was Shin who saved her from panicking. He drove her to see a doctor in charge of holiday treatment yesterday, taking half an hour. At a glance, Dr. Y diagnosed that it was a symptom of dyshidrosis, prescribing steroidal ointment and an internal antipruritic medicine for a week. Oh, such a disturbance to see horses … it seems that Mei-Shun perspired too much within gloves on them.
