Master Mei-Shu finally gave a phone call to Mei-Shun. Fracture in the left arm? Oh, 鳴脩-sensei, please be more careful. You have osteoporosis, although improving little by little thanks to medicine through injection. You take a time to recover, that means one of Mei-Shun’s 2017 goals would fail. Well, it depends. She just wishes her master to regain mental and physical health as soon as possible.
When Mei-Shun would like to have a comfortable sleep in bed at night, she makes it a rule to call her inner sister Petite Mei-Shun and ask her to dance 娘道成寺. Ms. Petite always does very well, let Grande Mei-Shun go asleep before 引き抜き=hiki-nuki, quick change of costume with two different-color kimono layered. The other day, she tried 汐汲 as an inducer and failed — shocked by such a transient memory.
Purr, it’s warm to sleep on mom’s legs. She went out from this afternoon to night for horseback riding. The other day she received a phone call from Ms. I, her favorite instructor who takes primary care of Madoka-chan. Since 5 lessons reserved for this dark brown girl have been canceled so far, a private lesson was offered. Nice women’s day it was, under a blue sky. I stayed a good girl as well. Praise me more, purrrr …

Japanese people, including Mei-Shun of course, love festival. They enjoy all through the year; New Year in Jan., St. Valentine’s Day in Feb., Girls’ Festival in Mar., cherry blossom in April, Golden Week in May, summer vacation with obon from the end of Jul. to the same of Aug., Halloween in Oct. followed by Christmas in Dec. Jun., Sept. and current month have nothing special, often drown into following celebration.
Since we have 立冬=ritto, the first of winter 二十四節気 today, Mei-Shun decided to wake Mr. Aladdin up. So heavy and powerful he is, she must be very careful. In order to protect tatami mats, she spread them with two bathmats. Tipping his cardboard box toward her side, she put it on a mat before bending her knees to hold and set him on another. Now, it’s become easy to pull him to the living room.
It might be one of the most beautiful scene in Japan — rice paddy after harvest dotted by persimmon trees with ripe fruits left on naked branches. Mei-Shun chose a different route today to go shopping on foot, looking down her normal lane to the nearest shrine from opposite side. Still before 15 o’clock, sunlight cannot warm her shoulders any more. It stops at yellow leaves to make them shine in gold.
Milk after bathing! Have you ever tried it? Mei-Shun heard that many people in her home country love to drink a glass of cold milk (or beer for adults) after taking a hot bath. It looks quite good for health, since we lose much water by perspiration while warming ourselves in bathtubs. Oh, please do not forget to place your free hand on the waist during this superb experience.
Our protector shrine has several 灯篭=toro, Japanese garden lamp made of stone. When candles are put into narrow space under big shades, unique designs curved on the wall appear. Mei-Shun knows well they are there, yet it was just this morning that she recognized moon shapes on them. One side wears a full moon while another a crescent: it might mean the beginning and the end of things.
We have clear 十三夜, a moon on lunar September 13th tonight. 十五夜, another on lunar August 15th, is rare to be like this. Although rounder, she tends to keep shy wrapped in a cloudy dress. By the way, “Twelfth Night” by Shakespeare is translated into Japanese as 十二夜. 尾上菊之助 or Kikunoe Ryu head Sensha has played it on stage in kimono, directed by late Y. Ninagawa.
Dr. A gave Mei-Shun a superficial check on her body by palpation before saying “no problem” as usual, one of the happiest words for her ex-inpatient. It relieved her so much because she drew the worst omikuji at the nearest shrine in the morning. She had another of half-lucky on behalf of Shin, bound it with hers on a branch of 南天 or Nandina domestica to ask protection of Gods.
