Fragrant Olive

That sweeeet scent comes from neighborhood these days. Our horseback riding club has some trees around the field, makes lessons more romantic and comfortable especially at night. Not only give charming aroma, they also look lovely in bloom. Those little orange flowers keep beauty even after falling on the ground. Such sight reminds Mei-Shun of her high school festival held in the middle of September.

It was the first time for Shin and Mei-Shun to see a chimerical 百日紅=saru-suberi, crape myrtle. When they went to a nearby community center to cast ballots recently, it took her curious glance. She has met many peaches and plums in such colorful blossom, yet never for this summer flower. On the way to home yesterday, she by chance walked by it again. So you kindly look forward to her visit, dear strawberry and vanilla cream.

Lily Left

Already gone this morning, Mei-Shun found them blooming in the last two the other day. How brilliant your dress is, graceful your figure is! Attracted so much, she drew omikuji on behalf of Shin and for herself. His was 吉=kichi, lucky while hers 小吉=sho-kichi, a little. Interestingly, they had serial numbers in 47th and 48th saying; he would be blessed by Gods after patient efforts, she be helped by other people before blessed.

Shin and Mei-Shun enjoyed on Saturday 宵々山=yoi-yoi-yama, floats exhibition held two nights before 山鉾巡行=yama-hoko-junko, march of these portable shrines of Kyoto Gi-On Festival. Here is their favorite 舟鉾=Fune-Hoko, ship-shaped one. It reminds them of their first Gi-On experience more than 20 years ago, when they met Mei-Shun’s father by chance on the way to Kyoto.

Tanabata Celebration

Standard

We are so happy to see you two in the garden. And it was lucky for Mei-Shun who found you standing straight up in green before Shin used the lawn mower. Ah, that might be why she often saw butterfly couples these days. They were messengers sent by you to let us know today’s festival, weren’t they? All right, let’s wish 織姫 and 彦星 would be able to meet tonight crossing a bridge made by magpies over the galaxy.

We have 夏至=geshi, the 4th of summer 二十四節気 today. The longest daytime in an year should serve for a romantic dinner in sunset for example, yet rainy season often prevents us from doing so. Well, good rainfall is indispensable for our good life. Mei-Shun’s proposal here is to go out with your favorite umbrella, raincoat and boots. How’s your idea, lovely little frog?

Foggy Equanimity

Standard

Though we have serial hot days since this weekend, fog is often seen in early mornings around here. Mei-Shun found a couple of wild duck swimming together on 乙戸沼 the other day. Softly coated with mist, they looked so romantic. A cormorant stood still on a fountain head. One thing she learned after driving her car for 8 years is that fog lamps work very well in this condition.

So happy to see the first full moon of this year. She looks so beautiful in clear, cold air that Mei-Shun chose moonlight scores for Ms. Piano tonight. There was a little discovery: she misread a G key, wrote E for it. Since musical notes full of lines are not friendly to her eyes, she makes it a rule to use pencils for confirmation. Now she is ready to play it precisely, while make further efforts of weight control toward the end of lunar 2016 which comes in 2 weeks.

Lunar August

Standard

And Solar September starts from today. It is a nice coincidence for the first days of modern and older calendars to meet on the same date, isn’t it? That also means we have a new moon tonight, the best timing to make your wish to a god. Mei-Shun’s is good health of course, not only for herself but for her family and friends. Health in body leads to one in mind, collaborate to create beauty and happiness. She wishes she could wish for everybody including those she does not know.

Amber Protection

Standard

It is so big that Mei-Shun was nearly shocked at first. Shin, take her most profound gratitude please. They say your face oil serves for better luster on this gemstone. She therefore takes everyday care of it, anticipating an excellent debut on kimono — it is a 帯留, obi-dome accessory for obi sash. 久慈, kuji in Iwate Prefecture has one of the oldest amber-embracing strata in the world, Santonian, Late Cretaceous. How romantic it is to see Mother Earth memory of more than 85 million years ago!
