Mei-Shun’s favorite tea shop, one of branches closed recently, sent her a letter of invitation. 蔵出し新茶=kuradashi-shincha, stored tea of the first harvest, has been “ripened” in a refrigerator for half an year since 八十八夜, they say. With a discount ticket enclosed, she would like to visit another shop at the nearest train station soon to reserve some.

Candy Helps

Standard

This is みすず飴=misuzu-ame, Shin’s souvenir from Nagano Prefecture. Fruitful jelly wrapped with 和紙=washi, Japanese artistic paper is one of Mei-Shun’s favorite. More reasonable product in transparent package was a pet for her grandfather on mother’s side, a Nagano native. He stayed at a hospital for long, peacefully made his last journey just one week before his younger granddaughter’s marriage.

Good Job

Standard

You have run so much kilometers in safe so far. Please kindly take our sincere gratitude. However, something weird often sounds from your engine these days. Your coatings on the roof, bonnet and rear bumper have begun to blur. Oh, how heartbreaking it is for Mei-Shun who took you over from her late father. She has to wait for another guy to replace you soon, handing you to Shin who has less time to drive.

After 2Y + 19Wks

Thank you so much, Dr. A, who gave Mei-Shun a “Yes” phone call during this o-bon vacation. That became the happiest お盆玉 for the latter. She celebrated it with a glass of tasty 月の桂=tsuki-no-katsura, a cloudy and sparkling sake made in Kyoto. Scotch whiskey, 芋焼酎=imo-shochu and 泡盛=awamori are normally preferred, it has never brought her a hangover.

Pretty Peach

Standard

Mei-Shun loves them so much. She often says her favorite is Japanese cherry, yet the reason owes a great deal to lovely looking and such short time of the best like its blossom. As for taste, the former wins a triumph. Oh, how beautiful they are, with the sweetest scent! They are agricultural products, yet really artworks. Thanks a million, Shin, who knows well his wife is a fruit bat.

Their Wisdom

Standard

Mei-Shun often heard that horseies’ ability to learn is the same as three-year-old human children’s. How do you feel at it, Ms. Amazones and Mr. Vanilla? Isn’t it so arrogant, or even rude of us to have such an idea? We are able to make our lives happy thanks to their tolerance. It might sound better to say that the way they allow their time to be used with grown-ups is like young kids.

Sweetest Girl

Standard

Mikan-chan always knows how Mei-Shun feels. When the latter takes rest on a futon mat with a fever, the former immediately joins while relaxes at her best place, looking indifferent when her mom is in better condition. All the same occurs between her parents — when Shin and Mei-Shun are in a bad mood after quarrel, their fluffy daughter rushes toward them with her tail upheld, turns on her back purring.

Acknowledgement

Standard

Upper pair of shoes following below walked in Tunisia raining. Such a rare experience is only for them. Quite likened by Mei-Shun, they have worked hard debilitating themselves under sultry/frigid conditions, far away from normal obsolescence. Darlings, it was in 2010 spring that she asked Shin to purchase you on Internet. Seven years with you gave much to her. Farewell and thanks a million, take good rest.

Minazuki

So this date has come to Shin and Mei-Shun. They miss a little 茅の輪=Chi-no-Wa and paper doll ceremony at Kiji (=Pheasant) Shrine in Gotanda while never stopped enjoying this sweet delicacy in the morning. After that, he went aboard for Hong Kong on business while she visited Master Mei-Shu. She said that her own instructor passed away at 91 yesterday, meaning that 師範 test for her student could be postponed for a while.

Slightest Moon

Standard

We will see 朔 of lunar June tomorrow, which means the best day to make a wish with 大安=tai-an. It is the best luck in 六曜=roku-yo, one of 暦注=reki-chu which means fortune of each date and direction written on solar calendar. Ah-ha, Mei-Shun did not understand these words before starting this weblog. She is so thankful to you kind followers: it is you who make her learn more.
